This was filmed in the Valley of 72 Waterfalls, Interlaken. This is part of my Dancing Barefeet Project - Exploring dance in nature and in its spiritual and expressive form. The music I used in this video is perhaps more significant than the dance itself. It's called Maya's Theme, taken from the soundtrack of a movie about courtesans and love, though this movie touched on very different feelings from feelings that occurred during my initial fascination with Umrao Jaan. "I wrap in pink cloths, colours entwining with florescent gold so that intricate flowers decorate me. There is nothing else but this one cloth around me, finally throwing over my shoulder. I am depending on this weight to hold my character. There are anklets and waist belts, they chime slowly as my moves are gentle; the concentration is on seduction and ultimate definition. I only walk around in this." This was inspired by Maya's Theme. I think I lingered in this for a week, finally then distracted by law school. The dance I performed was under the influence of a man (the singer) who could sing sorrow using his voice. I did not understand the song as I never planned to use it.
