Officially closing out the Shoot Style run with a top ten featuring one of the pioneers of Shoot Style. Nobuhiko Takada trained in the New Japan dojo, honing his craft, and eventually working his way up the card. He would begin implementing stiff strikes, as well as submission holds, eventually utilizing them as his main offensive arsenal. In 1986, he defeated Shiro Koshinaka for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title. Two years later, he and fellow Shoot Style practitioner Akira Maeda would claim the IWGP Heavyweight Titles. Not long after, the two would leave New Japan, forming the UWFi. As time went on, the promotion became quite popular, and in 1992, they received praise, and later partnership with the legendary Lou Thesz. Takada would become the focal point of the promotion, often in the main event. Thesz would go on to endorse UWFi as the world's only true professional wrestling promotion, and that others(including New Japan and even All Japan) had drifted from the roots of true pro wrestling. Takada would bring in competitors from around the world, including Sumo Champion Koji Kitao. In an infamous match, Takada legitimately knocked Kitao out in a double cross. In 1992, after defeating Gary Albright, Thesz bestowed his old NWA World Heavyweight Title to Takada, proclaiming him to the be the real World Heavyweight Champion. As the champion, Takada would issue challenges to the other promotions' World Heavyweight Champions, including Hulk Hogan, Great Muta, Mitsuharu Misawa ...
