Two patrol cars, a building and a double-decker bus were torched as rioters clashed with officers on Saturday in front of the Tottenham Police Station, where people had gathered to demand "justice" for the death of a man identified locally as Mark Duggan, a 29-year-old father of four, killed in an apparent gunfight. More than 300 were involved in what began as a march to demand justice for the killing.

Hours of violence saw around 300 people battle police in north London on Saturday night and into the early hours of Sunday. Residents have told Sky News they were in fear for their lives as shops were looted, police cars and a bus set alight and petrol bombs thrown at officers. Scotland Yard said 26 policemen were injured with eight officers - one suffering head injuries - admitted to hospital. They have all since been discharged. London Ambulance Service said paramedics treated 11 other people, 10 of whom were taken to hospital. A total of 48 people have been arrested for offences including violent disorder, burglary and theft. The violence erupted after more than 100 people staged a vigil for Mark Duggan, marching from the local Broadwater Farm area to Tottenham police station. An Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigation into the incident is under way. In an exclusive interview with Sky News, the older brother of Mr Duggan called for an end to the violence. Singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her home in Camden, north London, at the age of 27, police have confirmed. Officers were called by the ambulance service to an address in NW1 just after 4pm today. On arrival, officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene," a police statement said. Her death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are continuing into the circumstances, it added. The Back To Black artist had cancelled all tour dates and engagements last month after a series of erratic public appearances. Her final show was in Belgrade in June where she was jeered by fans after a shambolic performance. She had appeared briefly on stage with her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield on Wednesday night. She had been troubled by drink and drugs problems throughout her career. Tributes to the singer have been posted on Twitter. Their intricately textured music with complex orchestrations have made a huge impact on audiences as they pull you in from start to finish with breathtaking intensity. Fresh from touring with Bon Iver, we caught the band ahead of their sold out headline show at The Lexington in North London. Our plans to film the band in a nearby churchyard were scuppered by a deluge of typical British summer rain so we were forced indoors where we set up camp in the back corner of the packed pub. The backdrop of animal skulls and hunting paraphernalia, along with the dim lighting of the pub gave the song "Tamer Animals" an eerie aesthetic to accompany the lyrics. It was this mood and the lyrics that inspired the animation, one of the most integrated pieces we've attempted before. Created out of plasticine and natural materials, the entire set was built in Matt's home studio and shot over 2 days using Dragon stop motion software.
