Jefferson Parish's Sheriff SWAT Team members Sgt. Scott Wildey, Detective Sean Cursain, and Detective Chuck Callahan are part the Parish's newest push to rid its drainage canals of Nutria, an invasive species that cause damage by burrowing into the canals. The team usually goes from midnight until 5 am to avoid traffic. A young Nutria is raised by my Aunt and Uncle in Morgan City, La in 1983. Nuchy was featured as a 1983 "WonderPet" on WBRZ Channel 2 in Baton Rouge. Nuchy was eventually returned to the "wild" at Swamp Gardens & Wildlife Zoo sometime in early 1984, from what I recall. He was a cool, collected Nutria and I can remember taking baths with Nuchy as a youngster. What a pet...
