Occupy Brussels just start now - Indignant protesters set up camp in Brussels [Euro News]

The marathon march is over for Europe's so-called 'indignant' protesters who have converged on Brussels from several countries. Defying a ban, hundreds of demonstrators set up camp in the city's Elizabeth Park. They want to make their voices heard and denounce EU-ordered austerity cuts. But first they simply celebrated reaching their journey's end. Organisers said more than 100 had marched from Spain where the 'indignados' movement became a phenomenon this spring. ╔═╦╗╔╦╗╔═╦═╦╦╦╦╗╔═╗ ║╚╣║║║╚╣╚╣╔╣╔╣║╚╣═╣ ╠╗║╚╝║║╠╗║╚╣║║║║║═╣ ╚═╩══╩═╩═╩═╩╝╚╩═╩═╝ ────────▄▄▄▄▄▄──────── ──────▄████████▄────── ──────█────────█────── ─────█──────────█───── ─────█─▄▀█──█▀▄─█───── ────▐▌──────────▐▌──── ────█▌▀▄──▄▄──▄▀▐█──── ───▐██──▀▀──▀▀──██▌─── ──▄████▄──▐▌──▄████▄── * http * OccupyTogether.org * http * OccupyWallSt.org * http * OccupyAlbany.org * http (North Carolina) * OccupyAsheville.wordpress.com (North Carolina) * http * OccupyAustin.org * http (Chicago) * OccupyDallas.org * http * OccupyDenver.org * http (Kansas City) * OccupyLA.org (Los Angeles) * http * OccupyManchester.org (UK) * http (Miami) * OccupyMN.org (Minnesota) * http (New Orleans) * OccupyPhilly.org (Philadelphia) * http * OccupySeattle.org * http (San ...

Brussels police keeps protesters away from EU institutions (raw video)

Brussels police on Saturday raised a barbed wire fence around the European institutions to prevent Occupy Brussels protesters from reaching the heart of the EU district. Protesters marched from Brussels Gare du Nord to Parc Cinquantenaire where they set up a camp with the intention to stay and continue with their protests. On Monday, the "indignados" were still camping in the park.

OccupyBrussels set up camp near EU institutions

This is what is left over of the OccupyBrussels movement, two days after more than 6000 people marched in the Belgian capital to demand political and economic change. But unlike the protest on Wall Street and also unlike those in some other European cities such as Amsterdam, the Brussels protest appears to have a tough time to become permanent. On Saturday, police blocked the protesters from gaining access to the European quarter, keeping the OccupyBrussels movement from planting its tents on the doorsteps of the EU institutions. The October 15 protest in Brussels took place in positive mood, with no violence like in Rome. The Spanish protesters who were among the first to start demonstrating in recent weeks are likely to return to Spain in the coming days and weeks, but OccupyBrussels organizers in in Brussels have already called a new protest for the end of this month.

In the video: Rome, Berlin, London Protesters nicknamed "The Indignant" marched in major European cities Saturday as demonstrations against corruption, capitalism and austerity measures went global. The "Occupy Wall Street" protests that began in Canada and spread to cities across the US moved Saturday to Asia and Europe, linking up with anti-austerity demonstrations that have raged across the debt-ridden continent for months. In Rome, police were out in force in Rome as some 100-thousand protesters were expected a day after Premier Silvio Berlusconi barely survived a confidence vote. Italy, with a national debt ratio second only to Greece in the 17-nation eurozone, is rapidly becoming a focus of concern in Europe's debt crisis. Fight & Chaos: First video of 'Occupy Rome' rally turning violent

For latest updates, follow RT on twitter.com and www.facebook.com What was initially planned as a peaceful "Occupy Rome" protest turned into a violent demonstration in the Italian capital. Police reportedly used tear gas and water cannons to disperse crowds of angry Italians. Protesters wearing masks and helmets threw rocks, bottles and other objects at police in riot gear. Some wielded clubs, while others were armed with hammers. The demonstration against the government's economic policy, with a crowd estimated at 200000, descended into violent chaos when groups of angry protesters set cars on fire, smashed windows and attacked shops. Protesters also attacked the Defense Ministry and set a wing of the building on fire. At least one person was injured and taken to a hospital, the Al Jazeera television network reported. The protests in the Italian capital were modeled on the "Occupy Wall Street" demonstration against capitalism and austerity measures, which went global Saturday with dozens of marches and protests worldwide. The website for the international movement said 951 cities in 87 countries were ready to "Unite for Global Change" -- the official slogan of the rally. Sizable protests were held in Spain, the UK and New York.

Occupy Europe: Thousands march in Germany & Spain

Thousands staged demonstrations against the power of banks and for greater democracy in German cities on Saturday, while several thousand Spanish teachers and parents marched in the capital Madrid to protest against austerity measures. In Berlin the second edition of the so-called 'Occupy Berlin' protest against the financial system drew several hundred demonstrators to a march which ended at the Reichstag building, Germany's parliament, on Saturday afternoon. Protesters chanted slogans against banks as they walked past Berlin landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate. After the massive turnout at anti-bank protests last weekend, Berlin police were out in force this Saturday but no serious incidents were reported. A similar demonstration was held in Frankfurt, where several thousand people protested against the power of the banks and for greater democracy. The demonstration was organised by 'Occupy Frankfurt' and the international pro-democracy, anti-globalisation movement 'attac'. The participants marched from the centre of Frankfurt to the European Central Bank building, and a rally was held in front of the Deutsche Bank building. Meanwhile in Spain, several thousand teachers marched in Madrid under banners reading: "Our hopes for the future were never so gloomy" and "For sale", referring to cuts in public education that they say will lead to fewer teachers being employed. Teachers went on strike in Madrid on Thursday, the sixth day of stoppages since classes began last ...

One of the major grievances uniting protesters across the US, is anger at the government for putting corporate welfare above that of citizens.
