From the home stretch of The Carol Burnett Show - January 1978. Here we get an extended look at one of Carol's characters close up. Notice she manages to work in an unexpected joke - probably as payback to Tim for sneaking it in on her in the "family" sketch... Saturday night... and television... really lost something when this show left the air.

Charles Nelson Reilly in his element!

Besides the game shows, I'll always remember CNR as a talk show fixture on television in the 70s, cracking wise and telling funny stories. Here, with Phyllis Newman, Jack Albertson and our beloved Johnny, he creates an entire subroutine out of his race against the steady signaling of the floor director - who keeps reminding him his time is running out - while simultaneously telling us about one of his adventures in New York... We love you, Charles... and goodnight from Hollywood!

The only original Bacharach / David musical written for television. Songs were lip-synched, so stereo tracks were incorporated into this version. Dean was a helluva straight man... Forty years ago, if the censor thought something was too racy, they would bleep out the offensive words with a cukoo sound or something like that.
