The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is a catastrophe and as it continues to unfold wildlife and locals are bearing the worst. However, did you know that there was another spill in Alaska? Apparently, BP has another spill to deal, with but with the epic spill in the Gulf, it seems as though Alaska has been overshadowed. Local physicians have no idea how to diagnose or treat patients who have bee exposed to highly toxic crude/dispersant combination. Local, State, and federal agencies continue to cover-up and offer zero assistance. Very sad; Lisa Nelson passed away today 3.7.11. Pete Seeger Live - new protest song about BP oil spill in gulf coast on Banjo w James Maddock guitar

On July 23th 2010 Pete Seeger performed live at a Gulf Coast Oil Spill fundraiser at The City Winery in New York City. There, he unveiled to the public his new protest song about the BP oil spill entitled "God's Counting on Me, God's Counting on You." Backing up Pete's singing and banjo picking is the singer/songwriter James Maddock on acoustic guitar. All proceeds of this concert went to the Gulf Restoration Network. The song was written by Lorre Wyatt and Pete Seeger. The show was produced and hosted by Richard Barone. The video was edited and mixed by Matthew Billy. The audio is a mixture of the microphones on stage and the camera microphone behind the audience. The stage microphones picked up the singing and banjo playing while the camera microphone picked up the audience singing along and clapping. How Gulf Oil Spill Estimates Got It So Wrong

June 23, 2011 — Marine oil spills are usually measured by the amount of oil floating on the surface. But the BP spill in the Gulf of Mexico, from a deep-sea well, required a different approach. Find out how one fluid-dynamics expert caused estimates to rise sharply practically overnight. © 2011 National Geographic Funded in part by NSF. Field producing and videography by Fritz Faerber.

Niger Delta fish farmer remembers oil spill tragedy

In 2008 an oil pipeline owned by Shell, failed and began spilling oil in Bodo Creek. Oil kept pouring out for more than two months before it was repaired. By then, many of the 70.000 people living in Bodo village had lost an important means of livelihood. The pollution killed much of the marine life in the river. Without the ability to fish the community of Bodo has become impoverished.

Gulf Oil Spill-Gutsy Solution Restores Environment in Just Six Weeks

www.SpillFighters.com - The Texas Land Office and Texas Water Commission successfully used 'oil eating' microbes to clean up large oil spills in just weeks. Microbes hunt down and eat the toxic oil and leave only a biodegradable waste that is non-toxic to humans and marine life. Marshland and beaches were pristine again in just weeks---not years like the Exxon Valdez spill. This is the answer to save the seafood industry and all the precious creatures we are about to kill.

NASA | Satellites View Growing Gulf Oil Spill

Two NASA satellites are capturing images of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which began April 20, 2010 with the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig. This short video reveals a space-based view of the burning oil rig and, later, the ensuing oil spill through May 24. The timelapse uses imagery from the MODIS instrument, on board NASA's Terra and Aqua satellites. The oil slick appears grayish-beige in the image and changes due to changing weather, currents, and use of oil dispersing chemicals. This video can be downloaded in full resolution at: svs.gsfc.nasa.gov Images in this video times series were selected that show the spill most clearly. The full image archive is available at: rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov You can learn more about the oil spill by visiting www.nasa.gov Imagery and information about the oil spill is also available on NASA's Earth Observatory Natural Hazards Web page: earthobservatory.nasa.gov Like our videos? Arrest For Filming Oil Spill, BY BP CONTRACTORS: BP's Rules, NOT OURS [A Third Of The Waters]

Journalists threatened with arrest by BP contractors for trying to film BP's mess. Gulf Disaster PLAYLIST: www.youtube.com The Gulliver 78 BP/The British Petroleum Co plc - BP Dossier BP FAMILY TREE/HISTORY sea-us.org.au Emerging reports are raising the question of just how much of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill journalists are able to document. When CBS tried to film a beach with heavy oil on the shore in South Pass, Louisiana, a boat of BP contractors, and two Coast Guard officers, told them to turn around, or be arrested. "This is BP's rules, it's not ours," someone aboard the boat said. Coast Guard officials told CBS that they're looking into it. Environmentally Correct Oil Spill Cleanup Solution with Hay & Straw

My Blog: alienspacecentereast.wordpress.com In this video posted by the Walton County (FL) Sheriff's Department, Darryl Carpenter, Vice President of Florida-based CW Roberts Contracting and sub-contractor Otis Goodson, shows how hay, hay grass and straw can be used as a very effective environmentally correct oil spill cleanup solution. In a scene reminiscent of a primetime cooking show, the Carpenter and Goodson video shows how Coastal Bermuda and Bahia hay could be scattered over the surface of the ocean with hay blowers to absorb the oil. To start, the two men pour oil into two large pans of water, stir in the hay, add a little "wave action," then skim off the oil-soaked hay. The audience watching the Walton County video included representatives from BP (British Petroleum), the Coast Guard and the Sheriff's office. CW Roberts then asks BP and the Coast Guard for the chance to do a 10-acre live demonstration in Gulf waters. They were told that approval has to come from higher up, but can they say no to this environmentally correct oil spill cleanup solution, with just Hay and Straw? "We work along the whole Gulf of Mexico coastal area in Florida," says CW Roberts president, Charles Roberts. "We have everything mobilized. We can have boats and equipment on the water in less than a half-day. We have been getting calls from all over, from people who want to supply the hay. We want to be given the chance to see if it works. If it works on 10-acres, then give us a bigger ...

Nungesser criticized Allen, a top BP official and others. He said something stinks, claimed that they were told to hold that permit up for some reason in referring to an emergency permit to build a barrier. Nungesser also said, its criminal, they ought to go to jail. THIS VIDEO IS A MUST SEE.

Exxon Valdez Oil Spill 1989

On March 23, 1989 the Exxon Valdez an oil supertanker operated by Exxon left the port of Valdez headed for Long beach, CA with almost 54 million gallons of crude oil on board. Shortly after midnight on March 24, 1989, the supertanker collided with Bligh Reef, a well known navigation hazard, ruptured 8 of its 11 cargo tanks and spilled 11 million gallons of crude oil into the pristine waters of Prince William Sound. The result was catastrophic. Although the spill was radioed in shortly after the collision Exxons response was slow. In fact, there was no recovery effort for three days while Exxon searched for clean up equipment. During that time millions of gallons of oil began to spread down the coast. Days later as the clean up effort began the oil slick was no longer containable. It eventually extended 470 miles to the southwest, contaminated hundreds of miles of coastline. For more information on the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill go to the Website - Sound Truth and Corporate Myths: The Legacy of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill at www.soundtruth.info This website is from Riki Ott, PhD, a marine oil pollution expert and former commercial fisherman in Alaska's Prince William Sound. New reports are surfacing every day about the immediate impacts of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on Gulf Coast wildlife, especially as the oil reaches the sensitive marshlands along the coast. But how will these communities be affected over time? Scientists currently know very little about how long it takes for the hydrocarbons and heavy metals in crude oil to work their way through marine food webs. To address this issue, California Academy of Sciences researcher Peter Roopnarine is working with Laurie Anderson from Louisiana State University and David Goodwin from Denison University to collect and analyze three different types of mollusks from the Gulf Coast. These animals are continually building their shells, and if contaminants are present in their environment, they can incorporate those compounds into their shells. Roopnarine and his colleagues will study growth rings in the shells - much like scientists would study tree rings - to determine how quickly harmful compounds from ...
