Pete Rock & CL Smooth "They Reminisce Over You"

See Music Videos www.bvmtv.com that you CAN'T See on You Tube! even some X RATED music videos! +Live Chat and Embed video codes. Pete Rock & CL Smooth were an influential rap group from Mount Vernon, New York. They made their debut in the rap world with their 1991 EP, All Souled Out. It sold moderately well enough to justify Elektra Records clearing the way for 1992's Mecca and the Soul Brother LP. As a producer, DJ Pete Rock (Peter Phillips) tended to prefer obscure soul and jazz sides for sample sources, frequently making use of horn-driven hooks. Lead vocalist CL Smooth (Corey Penn) tended to be philosophical in his raps, and he mostly avoided profanity. Their signature hit was They Reminisce Over You (TROY), a dirge for fallen friends--namely Troy "Trouble T-Roy" Dixon, a member of Heavy D & The Boyz, who died in 1990. 1994's The Main Ingredient was the follow up, and they appeared on a string of guest appearances for remixes, soundtracks, and other works. Public Enemy, EPMD, Heavy D and Johnny Gill were among the artists they collaborated with, and they can also claim credit for producing (and performing on) Run-DMCs 1993 comeback single 'Down with the King'. Despite all this, the duo failed to go gold on any of their own releases. Separating in 1995 (shortly after a well-received Sprite TV commercial), they eventually reunited on a handful of cuts from Pete Rocks solo recordings: Soul Survivor (1998), PeteStrumentals (2001) and Soul Survivor II (2004). Joe Conzo - Old School Hip Hop Photo Legend

Back in the 70s, Joe Conzos pictures were part of Hip-Hop. 30 years later, his pictures are part of Hip-Hop history. Born February 6, 1963 and raised on the tough streets of the South Bronx, Joe was definitely at the right place at the right time. Strapped with a camera 24/7 during the late 70's and early 80's, he intimately captured the birth of Hip-Hop music and a culture that would forever change the world. Having attended school with some of the pillars of Hip-Hop, such as The Cold Crush Brothers, Joe was never too far from a classic shot. He would go on to be the Crushs exclusive photographer and record some of the most candid and exhilarating moments of the pioneering rap group to date. With the help of True School flyer king Buddy Esquire, those photos and many others would soon grace party flyers and event posters and act as the earliest forms of Hip-Hop marketing and promotion. In addition to the Cold Crush, he documented other legendary Hip-Hop groups like the Treacherous 3, Fearless 4 and Fantastic 5 in famed venues such as The T-Connection, Harlem World, Ecstasy Garage and The Roxy. Many luminaries, like Kool Moe Dee of the Treacherous 3 and Rahiem of the Furious 5 consider Joe to be one of the first Hip-Hop photographers. But Joes photographic contributions to urban culture werent limited to just Hip-Hop. Being the grandson of the late "Hell Lady of the Bronx" Dr. Evelina Antonetty, Joe also documented the political and socio-economic conditions that played a ...

oldschoolscholar.com This video's theme is about the culture and music of Hip Hop vs Rap. What we hope you will identify is the enormous amounts of artists, flavors, aesthetics, crews, personalities, and competition that truly made the culture of real Hip Hop. Mainstream Rap, thanks to the corporate recording industry, has essentially stripped the pillars of Hip Hop away from what they call music. Hip Hop is for and from the streets as a true life form. Mainstream Rap is for and from controlled commercial marketing practices to sell products and brands. We are simply demonstrating the greatness of the Old School and Golden Age of Hip Hop due to its tremendous growth and trailblazing thanks to style wars and battling by being "fresh" out the box every time. Thanks to Mainstream Rap, or Hip Pop, the current market only sells "clones." They all sound alike, dress alike, speak alike, deliver alike, and pose alike. Same content. Same gimmicks and artificial flavors. This is the real Attack of the Clones. We thank the real emcees and artists in the streets for delivering the real Hip Hop like People Under The Stairs, JabberWockeez, East 3, DJ Craze, and Charlie 2na.

Top 10 old school hip hop tracks of all time

The top 10 greatest hip hop tracks of all time in my opinion. guys i left out and why: first of 2Pac and biggie. I respect them both and can understand why they were so great. I love their older stuff, Biggies first album is one of my favourite albums but i couldnt seem to find a place in my top 10 for any particular song. Also alot of their music seems to be about guns, general violence, bitches and money. These are alot of the things i dont like about most modern hip hop. There are others that could have easily made the top 20 or even 10 but theres so many great mc's its hard to get them all in eg. Big Daddy Kane Big L Snoop dogg Rakim Lords of the underground Roots Manuva Big Pun Mobb Deep Common Sugar Hill Gang Im sure ill think of more 5 mins after posting this.

Rock Steady Crew = Old school hip-hop

The Rock Steady Crew and all their best moves are showcased in this acrobatic live appearance on Australian television. It was a full decade before the internet and the microwave oven was considered cutting edge technology in the home. It was the year that gave us Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Beverly Hills Cop and the Union Carbide gas leak in Bhopal, India became world news. By the mid-eighties, disco had died and rap music had firmly replaced it as the latest music craze. Breakdancing came along with rap and had youngsters obsessed with it and older generations sneering at it. As ever, they said it would never last, but its legacy continues to this day in the style of hip-hop. Three years before it was axed, pioneering music program Countdown (1974 - 1987) featured a special on rap and breakdancing with the visiting New Yorkers shown in their finest hour. They present their two most popular songs. As to the relevance of host Ian "Molly" Meldrum's gridirion outfit, well your guess is as good as mine. It's best dismissed as another example of "guess you had to be there." While his fashion sense was hardly the sharpest, his understanding of music and the industry has never been anything less than cutting edge. A fitting tribute to Countdown, rap music, breakdancing and the energetic Rock Steady Crew in their heyday...
