It was 10:30 PM and Lizzy was the last gymnast to step to the beam for the night. A sleepy little girl, Lizzy knew she needed a good score to beat some very tough older girls. All eyes were glued to this tiny 9 year old pixie as she went through her progressions. It was a special opportunity in gymnastics because in a unique tradition at the Event Finals, or "The Big Show" as they call it at the Great West Gymfest, each competitor performs in front of the entire audience 1 gymnast at a time. Although the competition had begun nearly 4 1/2 hours earlier, she overcame the fatigue and performed well enough to clinch the Balance Beam Championship at the GWGF in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 2007. How cool is that? What a fun meet, What a great time!!!

Car and Track narrator Gordon "Bud" Lindemann (born August 22, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois -- 1983) was a pioneer in motor sports broadcasting. Lindemann graduated from high school in 1940. He joined the United States Coast Guard during World War II, and was stationed on the USS Eastwind in the North Atlantic. While in the service, Gordon met his future wife Kay and they were married on February 9, 1945. Lindemann worked briefly in radio in Boston following the war before moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1946. "Big Bud" (another nickname) then became actively involved in motor sports in the mid-1950s as an announcer at the now-defunct Grand Rapids Speedrome. He later worked at the Berlin Raceway and the Kalamazoo Speedway until the mid-1960s. In 1964, while working for the WZZM-TV broadcasting company, he developed a program called "Autoscope". The show featured local races as well as some national events.
