Abdullah Hakim Quick was born in the United States of America and accepted Islam in Canada in 1970. He pursued his study of Islam at the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia where he graduated and received an Ijaza from the College of Dawah and Islamic Sciences in 1979. He later completed a Masters Degree and a Doctorate in African History at the University of Toronto in Canada. His thesis was an analysis of the early life of Sheikh Uthman Dan Fodio, a great West African Scholar, Mujaahid and social activist. He has traveled to over 58 countries on lecture, research and educational tours. Abdullah Hakim has served as teacher, Imam, Daaiyyah in Los Angeles, California, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, Toronto, Canada and Cape Town, South Africa. For three years, he was a regular contributor to the Religious page of Canadas largest daily newspaper, The Toronto Star. He also was a special consultant to the Royal Ontarion Museum and the Ontarion Science Centre. In 2010, he served as a special advisor to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and presently Shaykh Abdullah resides in Cape Town where he is the Director of the Discover Islam Centre (DIC) and a senior lecturer at DICs Institute.

Lots of blade for the money... that's one of my favorite things. And, like I say in the video, most of my blades are well under $100. That's because all of my blade NEEDS can be met with such quality, high value blades as this one. Nicely shaped, this KBD1 blade could serve nicely in the fighting role with equal slash and piercing capabilities. Sharpening the upper clip, if legal in your area, will improve its effectiveness but isn't necessary. Coupled with a decent NS 1095 steel and a good sheath, the KBD1 is definitely worth the price of admission and ready for your hard use defensive role (and maybe survival role) without the guilt of thrashing an expensive blade.

However I prefer at least a 7" blade in this type of knife, for these types of tasks whenever possible.
