The Opel Ampera is the European version of the Chevrolet Volt, an electric car with so-called range extender. The Ampera comes late 2011 (!) on the market in The Netherlands, but we already drove a short ride. The Opel Ampera has a relatively large range (over 500km). It is primarily powered by an electric motor, the built-in motor-generator also delivers power if necessary. That is actually the opposite of a hybrid as we know it. The Opel GT is a two-seat sports car first presented as a styling exercise in 1965 at the Paris and Frankfurt motor shows, and introduced as a production model late in 1968 by Opel, a German subsidiary of General Motors. It relied partly on components from the contemporary Opel Kadett B and had a body made by French contractor Brissonneau & Lotz. Its styling has been likened to the 1968 Chevrolet Corvette which went on sale in September 1968.

The new Astra GTC is very much inspired by the Opel GTC Paris Concept revealed last fall at the Mondial de l'Automobile in . A compact, sporty five-seater with coupé appeal and dramatic proportions, the Astra GTC has a unique design: it does not share any exterior element with other members of the Astra family, except for the outside rear view mirror housing and the rod antenna. Six of the seven 17- to 20-inch wheel designs on offer are also GTC-only features.

Opel Zafira Tourer Concept
With the Geneva Motor Show less than a week away, Opel has released new details about the Zafira Tourer Concept. Designed to preview the production model that will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the concept features an Ampera-inspired front fascia, a "hockey stick" character line, a panoramic windscreen, and a glass roof with integrated ambient lighting. Furthermore, the MPV is equipped with bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime driving lights, and 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin is described as a "lounge on wheels" as it's elegantly appointed with advanced rear seats that would feel at home in a Maybach. The footrests are fairly typical, but the coup de grâce is electrically-powered headrests that swivel 90 degrees to a horizontal position to ensure "pure wellness for the passengers." Additionally, the second-row center seat folds down to reveal an armrest (for passengers in the outer seating positions) and the third-row seats can be folded into the floor with a simple press of a button. Under the hood, power is provided by a turbocharged 1.4-liter petrol engine with start / stop technology. Specifications haven't been released, but the four-cylinder will likely produce 140 PS (103 kW / 138 hp) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque.

Opel Insignia OPC Unlimited Driving Scenes
he Opel Insignia OPC Unlimited features the same 325 PS (239 kW/ 321 bhp) as the standard model but with the V-max lifted from 250 km/h (155 mph) to a still electronically-limited 270 km/h (168 mph). Distinguishing the Insignia OPC Unlimited will be a blue Brembo caliper logo and newly-designed speedometer and tachometer. Opel will also issue a special edition version in a matte black finish. The performance model still comes with all-wheel drive and a choice of either the six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The Insignia OPC Unlimited will also come in all available body styles - those include the four-door notchback sedan, five-door hatchback and the Sports Tourer wagon.

Five Stars Adult occupant The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings for the passenger indicated good protecction of all body areas. There were no structures in the facia which might present a hazard to the knees or femurs, and protection of this body area was rated as good for both driver and front passenger. In the side impact all body regions were well protected but, in the pole impact, dummy readings of rib compression indicated marginal chest protection. The front seat and head restraints provided good protection against whiplash injuries in a rear-end collision. Child occupant The passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position, and clear information was provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag so the system was rewarded. Permanently attached labels on the sun visor clearly warn of the dangers of using a rearward facing child seat in that position without first disabling the airbag. In the frontal impact, forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward facing restraint, was not excessive and, in the side impact, both child dummies were contained within the protective shells of their restraints, minimising the risk of dangerous head contacts.
