COMMODORE 64 music tribute NUMBER 2 - (GOLDEN AXE, COMMANDO and rock/orchestral covers)

Part two of my tribute to the greatnes of retro glory. The C64 was the most popular and best selling 8-bit home gaming computer for around ten years. It was known for two things: 1 - Its huge library of cheap (most games were £2.99!) original games and arcade/cross platform converions. 2 - Its revolutionary SID sound chip which gave the distinctive "C64 sound." In the same way that the NES sounded totally different to the Sega Master System, the C64 sounded unlike anything else - and was technically superior (musically) to the 8-bit consoles which came later. Here are a few examples of my favourite Commodore 64 music, by some of the master C64 composers!

Katy Perry - ET - Symphonic Orchestra Cover

Artist: Dinko Maticic Song: ET Cover by: Katy Perry Album/Project: Symphonica Aeternus "ET" is a song by American recording artist Katy Perry from her third studio album Teenage Dream (2010). Written and produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Ammo, with Katy Perry also credited for songwriting, it was released as the album's third promotional single on August 17, 2010. The song was later announced as the album's fourth single and released on February 16, 2011. The decision to write "ET" came after its beat was accidentally played in the recording studio, as it was originally intended for American hip hop group Three 6 Mafia.Admiring its acoustics, Perry chose to work with the track, wishing to write a "futuristic, alienistic song". You can hear it now in symphonic arrangement. If you like my covers subscribe to my channel and stay tuned. I don't sell any of my covers and all copyrights belong to the original artists.

Rammstein - Du Riechst So Gut [orchestra version]

This is my first orchestral cover ever. I love Rammstein, this song is one of my favourites and since I am a big fan of experimental crossover music of all kinds, I just had to give this a try. : ) I decided to include ONE synthesizer for the high lead sound, since it really fits in well with all the other acoustic elements. Instrumentation is fully orchestral, except for the lead synthesizer and an acoustic drum set (Ludwig Drums). I was inspired by CoinOperatedJunge's orchestra covers of some Rammstein songs. Check out his channel - I definitly love his cover of "Kokain". Well, since he doesn't have a cover of my favourite song "Du Riechst So Gut" I decided to try it myself. For my own music and for some cool piano transcriptions (sheets!) check out my homepage: sensenwerk.com Hope you enjoy it. Comments appreciated.

One of my favorite songs of the King of Pop. The drums and bass groove are just perfect for one of the most played dance tracks ever. Used the same in this cover. Overall just let the rich sound of the violins do the talking. As always please leave your ratings, comments for the video. Marty O'Donnell made so many awesome versions of the main Halo theme, so I mixed several versions together in my arrangement. All sounds are from the East West Quantum Leap libraries (orchestra, pianos, choirs, stormdrums) and my Ernie Ball/Music Man John Petrucci BFR 6 plugged into my Mesa/Boogie Roadster. I know the guitars are mixed back, but I didn't want them to be more important than the orchestra. Also, I recorded the audio first and made the video later because I was focusing on recording, not performing. Be sure to also check out the version I made with just the orchestra! Enjoy!

PETER GABRIEL´S NEW BLOOD ALBUM JUST RELEASED CCTV News

Legendary British singer Peter Gabriel puts a classical spin on his rock hits. In his latest release, "New Blood", he continues to push the boundaries of music with a full-orchestra arrangement. The new CD comes as a successor of his last release in 2010, "Scratch My Back", which was orchestral covers of a wide variety of songs. In order to complete a repertoire for a full concert with the orchestra, Gabriel re-recorded various tracks from throughout his own career this time. Peter Gabriel said, "When we started doing these arrangements I got really quite excited and we made some rules like - no guitars, no drum kit and very sparse at times, but it was all working so I thought let's do a record and then someone got enthusiastic and offered us a 3D film, so now we got the whole box set." The 61-year-old singer said performing his classic hits with a 46-piece orchestra is exciting. While the new CD stays clear of some of his most well-known hits such as "Sledgehammer" and "Big Time", it does feature the 1986 hit "In Your Eyes," made famous by the US movie "Say Anything." Peter Gabriel said, "I felt like I was an interpreter of existing songs that happened to be mine, rather than just doing the songs again. It was really a sense of reinvention and a bit scary. It's got a very different approach now with this orchestra version and we tend to do it as an encore. And I think after 'Say Anything' it sort of became part of culture over here." After logging over 44 years in the ...

Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill (New Blood)

Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill - the bonustrack on the album "New Blood" 2011 - Real world/Virgin. A beautiful rendition of a song that truely dates back to the Eighties. "Solsbury Hill" is a song about a spiritual experience atop Solsbury Hill in Somerset, England. Gabriel wrote the song after his departure from the progressive rock band Genesis, of which he had been the lead singer since its inception, explaining the reasons behind his departure. Despite the eloquence and purity of the vision atop Solsbury Hill, there may be some ambivalence of being free or going solo: "And liberty she pirouette when I think that I am free." New Blood is Peter Gabriels ninth studio album, released on 10 October 2011. The album consists of orchestral re-recordings of various tracks from throughout Gabriel's career. The album is a continuation of the project Gabriel began with his previous album Scratch My Back (2010), which was orchestral covers of other artists' songs. The idea for the album came about after work was done re-arranging Gabriel's songs for orchestra for the second half of shows during the New Blood Tour (2010). For this album Gabriel continues to work with arranger John Metcalfe. Lyrics: "Solsbury Hill" Climbing up on Solsbury Hill I could see the city light Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night He was something to observe Came in close, I heard a voice Standing stretching every nerve Had to listen had no choice I did not believe the information ...
