The Socialist OWS mob invades Oakland, California: "Occupy Oakland"

"America has to wake up to this new reality: the Cold War battle between communism and capitalism is back, only this time it's on our front porch. It went underground in the 70s, got an education, put on a suit, bought a house and had a couple of kids. Then it used the schools to educate new foot soldiers and manipulated the pop culture to indoctrinate the next generation of fellow travelers who seek to create a new world order in the image of old world Marxism." Peter Schiff at OWS: "Walmart Doesn't Hold a Gun to Your Head!"

"Did a corporation end slavery, or did the *government* end slavery?!?!" That's the sort of question investment guru and radio show host Peter Schiff fielded as he debated Occupy Wall Street (OWS) protesters last week in New York's Zuccotti Park. Schiff is no ordinary observer. As the prinicipal of the financial firm Euro Pacific Capital, he's a full-fledged and unapologetic member of "the 1 Percent." As an outspoken radio show host and commentator, he not only predicted the housing crash and financial crisis, he railed bank and auto-sector bailouts as they were happening. Schiff believes that capitalism offers is the only hope for young, frustrated people to have a vibrant and prosperous future. So he went to Occupy Wall Street to engage and debate the protesters. Touring the Occupy Wall Street scene in New York with a sign that read "I Am the 1%, Let's Talk," Schiff spent more than three hours on the scene, explaining the difference between cronyism and capitalism, bailouts and balance sheets, and more. "The regulation we want is the market," said Schiff. "That's what works." Schiff describes himself as "sympathetic" to the plight of the OWS protesters, but thinks their anger is misdirected at legitimate business interests and should be better at the White House, Congress, the Federal Reserve, and the crony capitalists they've bailed out. If you dig this video, check out a 20-minute-long video from Schiff's day at Occupy Wall Street in which the unflappable defender of ...

Immortal Technique on OWS: Impact!

READ ON on.rt.com This is a May Day America hasn't seen in years. Even though this holiday originated in the US only to become popular worldwide, it hadn't been massively celebrated in its home country. Something changed this year, however, after thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of American cities from coast to coast. The spirit of the Occupy Wall Street movement was alive and well once again in New York City on May 1. After months of relative slacking, thousands of activists were back to the streets of the Big Apple and with them came droves of new protesters demanding a change. democracynow.org - Occupy Wall Street activist Cecily McMillan suffered a seizure when New York City police officers pulled her from the crowd and arrested her as hundreds attempted to re-occupy Zuccotti Park on Saturday, to mark sixth months since the launch of the movement. In her first television interview since her arrest, McMillan says she has decided to speak out because of an outpouring of public support. "I have received so many emails, Twitter messages and phone calls. People are just horrified about what happened to me." McMillan has a black eye and her body is covered in bruises, at least one in the shape of a handprint. She says she was not allowed to contact an attorney while she was taken to the hospital and transferred to a jail cell along with some of the 72 other detained protesters. Facing charges of police assault and obstructing governmental administration, she was released Monday after a judge denied a request that her bail be set at $20000. McMillan is northeast regional organizer for Young Democratic Socialists of America, and a graduate student at the New School for Social Research. 2011 the year of OWS

The year of 2011 has been the year of uprising worldwide. In September the US began its version of the Arab Spring and the epicenter for the movement was New York City. From there it spread nationwide, and countless chapters protested in their respective areas. Lucy Kafanov covered the protests coast to coast and she recaps the Occupy Wall Street movement.

OWS gather steam from nationwide protest cop crackdown

Hundreds of arrests, accusations of police brutality and dozens of injuries - this is how the 'Occupy' movement in the US marked its two-month anniversary this week. Officers in riot gear tore down camps and broke up mostly peaceful demos against the unequal distribution of wealth in major American cities. At the heart of the campaign, in New York, a crowd of activists took to the subway and tried to block off the Stock Exchange. Evidence has been emerging of disproportionate police action in response to the rallies. At the University of California, a group of students staging a sit-down protest were pepper-sprayed in the face. In an earlier incident, an officer was filmed beating an Iraq war veteran so hard he suffered a ruptured spleen, although he seemed to pose no threat. And yet, as Anastasia Churkina reports, the crackdown is not deterring protesters. RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com
