OXYGENE variation - played with Eminent 310U + Small Stone + digital delay and Lexicon MPX500 reverb. Music by Jean Michel Jarre - a great musician. My love to his music and the fact that the 310U is a great instrument and also suitable for my music, convinced me to buy this organ on eBay in 2004. My friend and me drove 800 km and we picked it up from an old man in Germany. Boy it had a huge weight! We were not amused to bring it to the fourth floor without an elevator. But that's another story... :-) Such an Eminent organ was used by Jean-Michel Jarre on OXYGENE and many other albums. OXYGENE 4 (EXTENDED VERSION) cover played on vintage synthesizers - music by Jean-Michel Jarre
I recorded this cover of OXYGENE IV - music by Jean-Michel Jarre. NO SAMPLES were used - just the real thing (vintage electronic instruments). Every sound was played by hand and recorded onto multitrack without MIDI - like Jarre did in 1976. It was hard work - it required good timing - but I enjoyed the recording process very much. At the first picture in the video you can see a part of my studio. I used only the following vintage analog synthesizers / instruments: EMINENT 310 Unique (for the strings and pads with Small Stone) KORG MINIPOPS 7 DRUMBOX ARP ODYSSEY (brass-like lead sound) KORG MS-20 (bass) MOOG MICROMOOG for the sequencer sound, white noise FX and the lead sound with ELECTRIC MISTRESS flanger. It took three days to record and mix this track. Recording and mixing was doing digitally with LOGIC - I also used the reverb and delay plugins - as well as some equalizer plugs. I used some of the original Instruments from Oxygene (Korg Minipops 7, Eminent 310U, Small Stone) and some other synths (I don't have a RMI or an ARP 2600). However, the ARP Odyssey that I used is the small brother of the 2600 and its basic sound is similar). For the RMI sounds I used the Micromoog, which has very fast envelopes. Jarre performed two back-to-back concerts in Beijing, China, first in the Forbidden City and then in Tian'anmen Square, on 10th October 2004. ... The concerts were performed in 5.1 Surround Sound and broadcast live to over 1 Billion Chinese viewers. Jean Michel Jarre was accompanied by 260 musicians, including The Beijing Symphony Orchestra, The Chinese National Orchestra, The Beijing Opera Chorus, and notable Chinese rock musicians. ... The distinct lack of fireworks was due to the authorites failing (again) to grant the necessary license in time, like in 1994. ... Oxygene 4, by Jean Michel Jarre. Entirely recreated with Native Instruments FM8 (9 instances). Tracked in reViSiT 1.4 When there wasn't any title, description or tag list, with only the filename oxy4.avi, youtube seemed to have matched it with the original, blah'ing about copyrights 'n things. (how's that for fingerprinting!) I believe JMJ actually likes remixes of his tunes and isn't as shortsighted as the music industry proves to be, time and time again! ^_^ This is a slightly newer version as somehow there was a thick black border surrounding the version from earlier today. How or why is beyond me.

Oxygene 13 - Tribute to Steve Irwin
[EDIT] I've added, with the permission of the editor, a link at the end of the clip to the current most popular Irwin tribute on YouTube, if you like to see it, fell free. This is a tributary song I want to post for the late Steve Irwin, friend to all nations, 'Oxygene 13' Irwin's life, goes without saying, was a spectacular insight into zoology and the human passion, a man that knew animal behaviors so well, he was quite daring at first, but calm afterwards at approaching a crocodile without injury, because he knew how the beast worked. His death is ironic for not only was it by an animal but, for his fame and glory came from the title, 'the Crocodile Hunter', he was not destroyed by one, a ray, from what I know anyway, randomly attacking. The reason why I chose Oxygene 13 is, being a huge Jean Michel Jarre fan, I listen to a lot of his music, Oxygene 7-13 is one of my favorite albums. Like most of his albums, the last song, Oxygene 13, was a classic 'goodbye' song, fading into the back, all the melodies end, with a few sounds panning for half a minute or so. This song in particular though has a calm watery feel to it. I've always felt Oxygene 7-13 was a watery album, and I thought it was both fitting and right for such a clip. Also, in his recent concerts, Jarre has dedicated this song to the death of his producer's, and best friend's father. My opinion of him is, whether or not you like him or no is irrelevant, here is a man, who wants to explain to the world how <b>...</b>
