Last 4 levels of Ms. Pacman
Some half-assed Ms pacman play, from a save state in MAME 0.90u1 four levels from the end of the game. (Levels 138-141). Half inprov - half pattern. I have a more consistent pattern, but tend to try new things as seen here partly out of boredom, and partly because it's been a while and I've forgotten how to do this more consistently. FAQ: Q: Why aren't the ghosts turning blue? A: On levels 17 and 19+, the energizers simply reverse the ghosts. Q: What Ms. Pacman is this? A: It's the original arcade ROM running on MAME 0.90u1. Q: What's going on at the end? A: Due to a bug in the original game, this version of Mame gives an empty level that can't be completed. The arcade machine crashes/resets at that point. Newer versions of Mame also crash/reset because they have been fixed to more correctly emulate the real thing. See my other vids "Final Empty Maze" for what happens at the empty maze.

Pac-Man (パックマン, Pakku man?) is an arcade game developed by Namco and licensed for distribution in the US by Midway, first released in Japan on May 22, 1980. Immensely popular in the United States from its original release to the present day, Pac-Man is universally considered as one of the classics of the medium, virtually synonymous with video games, and an icon of 1980s popular culture. I love this style of illusion and thought pacman would be perfect for it. This illusion uses the same concept as the rubiks cube poster. This video is not about creating a new concept, it's about a new design being applied to a concept. (Think of it like a painter using the same lighting and shading techniques for each painting he creates.) I've included links to templates so you can make this poster at home. The effect stands out so much ..it almost makes you dizzy. If you stand far enough back ..you can even get the illusion to work with both eyes open ..which looks pretty amazing as well. Making the assumption that if cognition was to be found in non-human species, it would most likely be in the ones that were most similar to ourselves - bonobos. In this modern age experiment, a test is being conducted to exercise the hand-eye coordination of bonobos and whether they can understand an end goal. On a side note: this ape seems right at home in the video game world. But I am still not seeing the importance of teaching him how to play Pacman. Now Donkey-Kong, that's a game I think he would like.
