Palast der Republik oder Erichs Lampenladen 1990 Aufnahmen an einem Sonntag im Februar 1990. Als es noch die DDR gab Der Palast der Republik wurde am 23. April 1976 nach 32-monatiger Bauzeit feierlich eröffnet. Ab 25. April war er für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Chefarchitekt war Heinz Graffunder, der zusammen mit Karl-Ernst Swora, Wolf-Rüdiger Eisentraut, Günter Kunert, Manfred Prasser und Heinz Aust arbeitete. Die genaue Höhe der Baukosten ist nicht geklärt. Offiziell wurden 485 Millionen Mark der DDR angegeben, nach einer internen Aufstellung des Ministers für Bauwesen, Wolfgang Junker, waren es rund 800 Millionen Mark der DDR und nach anderen Schätzungen sollen es eine Milliarde Mark der DDR gewesen sein.[2] Bis zu 5000 Tonnen Spritzasbest -- dies entspricht ca. 720 Tonnen Rohasbest -- wurden beim Bau aufgebracht. Zum Zeitpunkt der Errichtung war dies ein international übliches Verfahren, um der tragenden Stahlkonstruktion des Gebäudes den bautechnisch vorgeschriebenen Hitzeschutz zu geben.[3] Westfront in den 1980er Jahren Der Palast wurde auf einem Teil des Geländes des im Zweiten Weltkrieg ausgebrannten und schwer beschädigten Berliner Stadtschlosses gebaut, dessen Ruine 1950 auf Weisung der DDR-Führung trotz internationaler Proteste zugunsten eines Aufmarschgeländes mit Tribüne gesprengt wurde. Danach wurde das Areal, das am 1. Mai 1951 gemeinsam mit dem ehemaligen Lustgarten in Marx-Engels-Platz umbenannt wurde, 23 Jahre lang als Fest- und Aufmarschplatz <b>...</b>

Michail Gorbatschow trifft in Berlin ein, Proteste vor dem Palast der Republik. Die Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR) war ein Staat im geteilten Deutschland, der von 1949 bis 1990 existierte. Bis zur Wende im Herbst 1989 war sie eine kommunistische Diktatur unter Führung der Sozialistischen Einheitspartei Deutschlands (SED), die sich zum Marxismus-Leninismus bekannte. Die DDR verstand sich als „sozialistischer Staat der Arbeiter und Bauern" und deutscher Friedensstaat, der die Wurzeln für Krieg und Faschismus beseitigt habe. Hervorgegangen aus der Sowjetischen Besatzungszone (SBZ), die mit der Aufteilung des besiegten NS-Staates entstanden war, blieben die DDR und ihre Staatsführung wie die anderen realsozialistischen Ostblockländer während der vier Jahrzehnte ihres Bestehens von der Sowjetunion abhängig. Michail Sergejewitsch Gorbatschow (* 2. März 1931 in Priwolnoje in der sowjetischen Region Stawropol) ist ein russischer Politiker und war von März 1985 bis August 1991 Generalsekretär des Zentralkomitees der Kommunistischen Partei der Sowjetunion und von März 1990 bis Dezember 1991 Präsident der Sowjetunion. Durch seine Politik der Glasnost (wörtlich: „Offenheit") und der Perestroika (wörtlich: „Umbau") leitete er das Ende des Kalten Krieges ein. Er erhielt 1990 den Friedensnobelpreis.
