The Beatles - Polythene Pam

The Beatles - Polythene Pam 1969 "Polythene Pam" is a song written by John Lennon, credited to Lennon/McCartney, and performed by The Beatles on their album Abbey Road. The song is part of the B-side medley. The song was originally introduced during The Beatles sessions; a demo from the Esher Sessions can be found on Anthology 3. Lennon would describe this song, along with "Mean Mr. Mustard", in The Beatles Anthology as "a bit of crap I wrote in India". In 1980 Lennon recalled meeting a girl who dressed up in polythene (but without "jack boots and kilts") and having "perverted sex in a polythene bag". The song is sung in a very strong Liverpudlian "Scouse" accent. On the album Abbey Road, the song is linked with the previous song "Mean Mr. Mustard" musically, as the two run together without pause. The two songs are also linked narratively, since "Mean Mr. Mustard" mentions that the title character Mustard has a sister named Pam. Originally, the line "his sister Pam..." in the song was "his sister Shirley...", but Lennon would change the line to contribute to the continuity of the Abbey Road side two medley. The song "Her Majesty" was originally set between "Mean Mr. Mustard" and "Polythene Pam". "Polythene Pam" segues into the following song, "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window". At 0:47, someone picks up a tambourine and, in the left channel, Paul McCartney can be heard saying "Yeah," while Lennon says, "Great". Compositionally, "Polythene Pam" ends with the final ...

Jungle Jim and Jungle Pam - Drag Racing Legends

Years before John Force arrived on the scene, drag racing's original flamboyant showman was "Jungle Jim" Liberman; a larger-than-life individual whose flaming burnouts, glib personality, and boundless energy helped endear him to fans in a manner that eluded other drivers with better winning records. Liberman was much more than a touring professional; with his wild wheelstands, 100-mph backups from burnouts, stubborn refusal to lift on even the most out-of-shape runs, and his curvaceous companion, "Jungle Pam" Hardy, Liberman provided all the entertainment of a traveling circus. Liberman's life, like the lives of many fast-living icons of youth such as James Dean, Jim Morrison, and Janis Joplin, was as short as it was fast-paced. He died at the age of 32 after suffering fatal injuries in a head-on collision with a bus on Sept. 9, 1977. His premature passing left a void in the sport that wasn't replaced until Force's explosive personality emerged in the late 1980s. Today, the legend of "Jungle Jim" lives on with "Jungle Pam," his constant companion in his heyday who titillated race fans with her skimpy outfits and provocative on-track actions. "At every race track that I go to," said Hardy, "everyone comes up and asks for my autograph. They ask what he was like and if he was as crazy as they've heard. The fans really miss him, and they miss the fun part of drag racing. The sport has become so professional now that there's no room for any of that anymore." "I was just 18 ...

The Doors - Love Street

"Love Street" is a 1968 song by The Doors which appears on their album Waiting For The Sun. The song is about the street in Laurel Canyon, California, where Jim Morrison lived with his girlfriend Pamela Courson. Love Street was one of the many songs Jim wrote for Pam She lives on Love Street Lingers long on Love Street She has a house and garden I would like to see what happens She has robes and she has monkeys Lazy diamond studded flunkies She has wisdom and knows what to do She has me and she has you She has wisdom and knows what to do She has me and she has you I see you live on Love Street There's this store where the creatures meet I wonder what they do in there Summer Sunday and a year I guess I like it fine, so far She lives on Love Street Lingers long on Love Street She has a house and garden I would like to see what happens La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la
