PASIC 2011: So Percussion / "So-Called Laws of Nature" by David Lang

The So Percussion Group performs David Lang's "So-Called Laws of Nature" at PASIC 2011. For more great performances from So Percussion, visit their Vic Firth artist page at www.vicfirth.com ABOUT SO PERCUSSION: Excitement about composers like John Cage, Steve Reich, and Iannis Xenakis - as well as the sheer fun of playing together - inspired the members of So to begin performing together while students at the Yale School of Music in 1999. Starting in the fall of 2011, its members will be Co-Directors of a new percussion department at the Bard College-Conservatory of Music. The summer of 2009 saw the creation of the annual So Percussion Summer Institute on the campus of Princeton University. So Percussion has performed their unusual and exciting music all over the United States, with concerts at the Lincoln Center Festival, Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Stanford Lively Arts, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and many others. In addition, recent tours to the United Kingdom, Russia, Australia, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the Ukraine have brought them international acclaim.

1994 Jon Weber Pasic Solo - OSU Day of percussion

Jon Weber PASIC SOLO - Now a percussion teacher at Michigan State, OSU Alumni. I was a sophomore (14-15)in attendance at this performance and I remember after he was done we all we saying "Weber is thy name!" LOL! Jon has probably the fastest singles I have every seen. The best part of this performance is when he starts throwing out some serious singles in the end and just shifts his weight and looks at his hands as if he is bored... LOL! Jon you ROCK! Jon Weber is visiting instructor of percussion at the Michigan State University School of Music. He received a bachelor of music education from Oklahoma State University, and a master of music from Michigan State University. Mr. Weber has been the composer and teacher for the Michigan State Drumline since 1996. Mr. Weber has performed with the New York Solsti Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Brass Band of Battle Creek, and the Santa Clara Vanguard. Mr. Weber is currently playing percussion with the world fusion group Thom Jayne and the Nomads. Mr. Weber is composer for the Detroit Pistons Drumline and performs with them at the Palace. He has taught at Oklahoma State University and been served as percussion coordinator for the award-winning Spartan Percussion competition line at the PAS international convention, and the Black Gold and Northern Aurora drum and bugle corps. He is a Vic Firth education clinician, and endorses Yamaha percussion and Sabian Cymbals.
