Daily News @ RevolutionNews.US — COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Starting at 10 o'clock Friday, two senior non-commissioned officers from Fort Benning will be walking the streets of Downtown Columbus, also known as, "Uptown." The soldiers will be wearing arm bands that read, "Courtesy Patrol." Fort Benning's Commanding General Robert Brown, and Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson made the announcement earlier this week. The need to increase security in Uptown Columbus comes after two weekend incidents in early April. In the first incident, police say five soldiers beat another man. The beating was witnessed near First Ave. and 10th street- sending the victim - a former solider - to the hospital with head injuries. The other, a shooting that left four injured - one fatally - at Mario's restaurant on Broadway. A man is charged in connection with the assault. Now, Columbus Police will have the company of two uniformed Fort Benning soldiers on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Mayor Tomlinson says the soldiers will not be able to make any arrests, but will be able to command order of all military personnel and if need be, alert military police. "You can't arrest someone for being intoxicated, but a senior officer can order you back to base or have military police come get you and bring you back to base," says Tomlinson. Charlotte Burton says the extra patrols might not be enough. "I know this is just a start but I think they will have to increase security that's being offered...a lot of <b>...</b>

This video was shot in the gippsland reigion of the victorian high country. What the camera doesnt pick up is how steep this particular hill is and how slippery it was. It was raining all day before we got there. In the patrols defence it was the first chance he had to use the winch so he wanted to see how it went. Without a doubt it would have made it up with momentum aswell. None the less, it gave me enough footage to make the cruisers look better than the patrol just for a laugh :) Also what the camera never saw was the troopys first attempt which was a fail with no traction due to no momentum...... But we wont mention than lol.

Crazy in Love from Snow Patrols new compilation Up to Now. Up to Now is the first compilation album of original songs by alternative rock band Snow Patrol. The album marks the band's 15 year music career. Band members chose songs they like from all five studio releases, and added a few b-sides, rarities and three new recordings to compile the track list. The band's label was originally going to call the album a Greatest hits, however, the band noted that they hadn't had that many hits. They went on to suggest a Best of, before realizing it was along the same lines. Singer Gary Lightbody has made it clear that the album wasn't a greatest hits record, and has expressed his dislike for such records. He further explained that the band couldn't have had such an album anyway, as they hadn't had enough hits yet. According to him, the compilation is a way to leave the last 15 years behind, and it looks forward to 15 years in the future. The album's title, "Up to Now" was specifically chosen as to indicate the band has more to offer in the future, and that it wasn't a way of saying goodbye. The band believes that the album signifies a portrait of the band, who they are, "warts and all". Lightbody said it represents the band making a statement, explaining: "We've climbed a hill and now we're looking back and taking in the view for a bit. It's nice to show people that we didn't just arrive overnight".

The Airborne Patrols follows the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division from their departure for Iraq in June 2007 to their return home in July 2008. The producers were granted unprecedented access to the Paratroopers through cameras provided directly to the troops on the ground. As a part of the Surge effort these troopers filmed the war from their own unique perspective, offering a glimpse into one of the worlds deadliest jobs. Capturing over 130 hours of footage these 16 soldier-camera operators and more than 200 soldiers participated in the making of this film. The characters are revealed through a combination of their own camera work, conversations with friends, commentary while on the job and post-production interviews. Ride along as we move across the battlefield through 20 Iraqi cities and 8 American Military Bases. In the streets of Iraq they investigate, track down, chase and subdue suspected insurgents who attack our troops with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and mortars. We see the smiles on the faces of Iraqi children as the troops give out toys, build hospitals, open schools and ensure the streets are safe again. This film offers the most current and in depth look at the war and daily lives of the men and women who volunteer to fight for their country. These craft supported the mission of Task Force 116 in Vietnam. In December of 1965, naval leadership determined the need to command the waterways of the Mekong Delta. In pursuit of that goal, Task Force 116 was established. River Patrol Squadron 5 was formed as the principal PBR unit operating under CTF-116. PBR's commenced their first combat patrols under operation code name. "Gamewarden". PBR's patrolled the Mekong delta checking cargo and the identity of junks and sampans plying the waterways. At night, they set ambushes and supported SEAL and UDT special operations and enforced nighttime curfew restrictions. Task Force 116 was disestablished in December 1970, and 293 US Navy PBR's were transferred to the South Vietnamese Navy.

After the 11th Airborne returned to the US, the 504th and 505th parchute infantry units in Mainz each had standing LRRP platoons. Provisional LRRP Companies made up of both trained LRRPs and regular soldiers were put together for a series of exercises called Wintershield and proved themselves in the field. This led to the 1961 formation of two Department of the Army authorized LRRP Companies in Wildflecken and Nellingen Barracks (near Stuttgart).
