Just a how to on making yourself a PCV catch can for any vehicle really, this happens to be the 99 F150 with the 4.2 in it but the principle works on any car that has an external PCV valve, I know on GM 3.8's with the composite intake it would be much harder if not even at all possible to do this mod, but I'm sure there is a way ;)

Tools you'll need: Pliers Flathead screwdriver Other stuff you'll need: Hose clamps (3) PCV Valve (1) -O'Reilly Auto/Microguard PCV345 -FRAM FV345 & FV345DP -BWD Auto PCV358 -Napa Item MPF39358 or CRB29358 -Advance Auto, Purolator #PV1050 (Thanks to 'nnichols' for the cross reference) *Corrections: 1) I said PVC Valve. That is incorrect, it is PCV Valve. 2) PCV valves can be any orientation and work the way they are supposed to, maybe not the way you intend. See clarification below. *Clarifications: When I said "Won't do anything," I meant "won't do what you want it to." My apologies for any errors and misunderstandings. The engine breather hose is accessible from the left side of the bike. Use the pliers to move the crimp clamp holding the hose to the air box down. Use the screwdriver to break the seal between the hose and the box and work it off. Push the rubber "clamp" (mine was completely dry-rotted and not being very useful) up and use the screwdriver to break the seal between the engine and the hose and work that off. Mark the section of hose that you want to cut out (I cut out just enough so that the overall hose length wouldn't change very much). If you want, I'm pretty sure it would still work just fine if you only made <b>...</b>

Changing PCV hose on 2000 Mercury Sable
The PCV hose, part # 6A664, on my 2000 Mercury Sable failed causing a vacuum leak. I replaced the hose and all is well. Thank you to all the professional and DIY mechanics that post videos and answer forum questions. Your time is not wasted. 09/01/11 Attention: New Information. Do yourself a favor and changed out the PCV Valve at the same time you are changing out the hose. The valve is available at Autozone for $6 or $7. Try this to remove the valve, a 24mm deep socket. Be sure to leave feedback. Thanks.

UPDATE!!! 9-7-08 alright so....here is the new mpg test.....i went from 22.6 mpg to 25.33 mpg!!!! a 2.73 mpg extra or 12% efficiency increase!!!! alright!!! and from what i've read over time as it cleans out your engine more and more it begins to run cleaner and cleaner!!! now remember my engine has 156000 miles on and i think there is only room for improvement!!! i will post a video soon of the gunk it has collected.

See what I made with all of that bent PVC - www.youtube.com The motor I used was actually a loaner from a friend, it is about 400 dollars, but is far beyond what the bender requires, it could have turned steel. You need any low speed 20-60rpm (but not necessarily adjustable) decent torque motor . If you're just bending a couple of lengths you might simply turn it by hand. I was bending over 100 12 foot lengths of pipe. For the tube that runs through the rubber stopper, we used lamp rod, which we cross threaded, and loaded with lots of Teflon tape. You would be much better off taking a quick release air coupler to a machinist and asking him to make you 2 threaded tubes that the coupler can screw onto (1 for backup). You could also tap it yourself if you have the tools. You're going to drill out your stopper and run the tube through, put a nylon washer, steel washer then lock washer on either side and tighten down the exposed hex nut once you put it in the end of your pipe to squish the rubber stopper into place. The other side is simply a hex nut, with a nylon washer, steel washer, then hex bolt that clamp the stopper into place. You want your steel washer to be as close in diameter to the inside of your pipe as possible, and you want the interior diameter of your nylon washer to be as close to your threaded tube size as possible.
