This is the T-51 helmet seen in the other IN PROGRESS video. We finally found all the hard parts needed to complete it. Sorry for some of the pics in the video(lighting and the picture angles) Anyway, You may also notice maybe some parts are still missing(lens,few rivets). This is a video detailing my 1st pepakura (paper craft) project building a comic book style Magneto helmet. The goal is that I will end up with a nice quality wearable replica. Part 7: After applying Resin to the outside of the helmet and letting it dry(as shown in part 6 video) I can now proceed with adding fiber glass cloth to the inside of the helmet. Spray adhesive is optional but it definitely seems to help. One you have the helmet lined with fiber glass cloth you will then add a coat of Resin over the top of it and let it dry. I had to let mine sit for almost 24 hours because of the low temperatures outside. *** make sure to wear a mask when working with Resin as it is very toxic***

Hello 405th.com members! This is my first attempt at a tutorial, so please be gentle in your comments. :) Many have asked me how I do my pepakura unfolds. Well, here you go. This was recorded at 3fps and played back at 15fps (5x normal speed), so some parts are going to go a little fast, but hopefully the information comes across well enough. Unfolding can take a long time, so it was sped up to reduce some of the tedium. Model provided by Nintendude. Original modeller is Spartan857.

The first part in my full length tutorial on how to make halo helmets, armor, etc. This video shows how to get started. Where to get the pepakura designer program and stuff like that. The next step is to build your model. See Part 2 for that. To find the size of the helmet I usually just take the height of my head and then add a little to that to get the height of the helmet. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If the numbers are not on the model, you need to go to the 2D Menu in the toolbar and click show Flap Edge ID. This should make the numbers appear. The second video in my tutorial on how to build halo armor, helmets, etc. This video covers the assembly of the pepakura model. The Mountain folds are usually the equal length Dot Dot Dot lines while the valley folds are usually the unequal length Dot Dash Dot lines. If the numbers aren't on the pieces, you need to go to the 2D Menu in the toolbar and click on Show Edge ID. This will make the numbers appear. To size my helmets I usually measure the height of my head and then add a little to that to get the height of the helmet. It's not perfect and is really trial and error but it's the best way I know. Part 6: I'm going through the process of applying resin to the outside of my helmet. This will make the helmet stronger and will help with retaining the shape when I need to apply fiber glass cloth to the inside as well as when i go to apply bondo to the outside to get it nice and smooth. At this stage I am taking my paper helmet and applying the liquid and letting it sit over night. Normally it should only take a few hours to dry... however it's mid november here in NY and it's starting to get really cold out. The process of drying took a little longer than it normally would. ** Make sure you wear gloves and a mask when applying the resin. The fumes are very toxic. Also make sure you are doing this outside or in a well ventilated room. You can find the Resin at Walmart in the automotive section. The container I bought came with the liquid hardener however I bought extra incase i needed it.

Part 9: In this video I am going through adding Bondo to the helmet which I will try to add on as a thin layer. I then will let the Bondo dry so I can begin sanding the helmet. The goal here is to try and get the helmet more rounded and smoothed out. I was able to pickup Bondo(which came with the hardener) from Walmart for around $8 for a small container... this should hopefully be enough for my helmet. Once I finish sanding I will add another layer of Bondo and repeat this process until I'm happy with the shape etc.
