BALCONYTV.COM 16/07/2008 PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT It all began in the 1970s with a love of pure pop that hasn't gone away. Through the 1980s Peter played keyboard with members of Thin Lizzy, Cat Magic, Kick, Mirror Freak, Papa Hobo, and many Dublin pop and blues bands. A move to New York in 1990 opened up a world of opportunity and he soon found himself writing award-winning soundtracks for the earliest multimedia CD-ROM games and interactive products. Returning to Dublin in the mid-90s Peter slipped back into the Dublin live blues scene. Since summer 2007 Peter has been navigating the Dublin open-mic scene and hopes to begin playing his own shows in the Autumn & Winter of 2008. When asked about the fact that he came to writing songs and solo live performance relatively late in life he says. His songs deal with the subjects that pull at your heartstrings: love and loss, happiness in even the darkest hour. The songs talk about the frustration at our human limitations: the inadequacy of language, how we make it difficult for ourselves. www.dundalkdemocrat.ie Costcutter Express on Clanbrassil Street held its official opening ceremony on may 13. Louth TDs Peter Fitzpatrick and Gerry Adams were in attendance, as was Dundalk Town Council chairman Conor Keelan. But the guest of honour was Tyrone Senior Footbal manager Mickey Harte, who is a close friend of store owner Damien Donegan. Irish folk rock band Mutefish were on hand to entertain the large crowd that had gathered. Then Mr Harte cut the ribbon to officially open the store.

Pugwash "On With The Show"
Pugwash (with help from Neil Hannon) recently recorded a b-side for the second single from the 2008 album "Eleven Modern Antiquities". Here is an early pre-release 'monitor mix' preview just for you. "On With The Show" is the Idle Race song from their debut album 'The Birthday Party' released on Liberty Records in 1968. Anyone who knows Pugwash will know their love of Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, Idle Race, The Move, ELO and all that wonderful stuff.
