Lyari has been tense since Sunday as large contingents of police and Rangers failed to restore normalcy in the area. Angry mobs pelted stones at vehicles at Lea Market Chowk and burnt tyres. Police started shelling at stone pelting youth, which turned the area into a battlefield. Local people restricted to their houses and shops were closed due to fear and intimidation.
