Portrait Lighting for Photography and Video!

There are several lighting positions that photographers have developed over the years. People like George Hurrell, who used tungsten to shoot stars, used these lighting positions. Learn to identify what a butterfly or Rembrandt light is. Knowing these positions, and where the light placed to create them, will help you see how photographers light their images. These are departure points from which you will create your own look and direction. Its hard to depart from someplace you have never been there. This will teach you the basics and give you a good foundation to build on. This video is not as slick as some of the others we have done but it has great basic instructions on portrait lighting. (Don't miss the ending its the most exciting part!)

Detained for photography in Baltimore

I was visiting from Oregon, and as part of my career interests, I explored the transit systems of Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston. In each and every one of those cities, except for Baltimore, I had no problems photographing these amazing systems. This incident in Baltimore started with me enroute from the B&O Railroad Museum to Penn Station. I had boarded a light-rail train at the Convention Center, but realized that I needed to be on a "Penn Station" bound train, so I stepped off at Cultural Center Station in order to board the correct train. While waiting for my train, I snapped a photo or two of passing trains, and was immediately inundated with police officers confronting me about my photography. I also had a video camera on hand, so this entire incident, except for the last bit at Penn Station, was recorded. MTA Police finally gave back my farecard and ordered me to "cease and desist," but continued to surround and bother me until I boarded the next Penn Station train. They followed me to Penn Station and got Amtrak Police ...

LA Sheriff Threatens To Submit Photographer to FBI's Hit List

Want to leave a comment? Then visit this link: boywithgrenade.org If you happened to see Rick Sanchez's biased and fabricated broadcast of this encounter, you should know that he left out very important facts in order to slant the story to his opinion and publicly smear me. His producer, Janelle Griffin, was also very upset that I decided to not do the show. and started screaming at me over the phone, threatening to make me look terrible, which Rick succeeded at doing by severely cutting the footage. But let's not forget that this is the same Rick Sanchez that struck a man with his vehicle in 1990, and like a spineless coward, left the scene. Rick's hit and run victim later died from injuries that were caused by the accident. According to Sanchez's attorney, the alcohol in Sanchez's system at the time of the accident was due to Sanchez going home to calm his nerves with a couple of drinks. Sure Rick. Important facts that Rick Sanchez left out of his Bias Broadcast: -Gylfie lied by stating MTA has a policy against photography. Photography is allowed on the Metro. -Gylfie threatened to submit my name to the TLO. -Gylfie threatened to disrupt the rest of my life by submitting my name to the FBI's "hit list". -Gylfie made inaccurate claims that the London bombings were planted and that the terrorists took photos beforehand. The Photographers Series: Debbie Fleming Caffery (Demo) - produced by Anthropy Arts

This latest edition features Debbie Fleming Caffery, who has been documenting the Louisiana sugar cane harvest, the plight of prostitutes in Mexican brothels, and more recently the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The documentary travels with her through the mud of the sugar cane mills, to the devastated homes of New Orlean's Ninth Ward, and to the South of France for the Les Rencontres Arles Photography Festival. In the Photo Commentary, she divulges the stories behind some of her most touching and poignant images. Plus, the Bonus Feature provides further insights to her creative process. Debbie Fleming Caffery's photographs capture moments of rich beauty in the people and landscapes of the American South and Mexico. A native of Louisiana, Caffery is most comfortable in the shadows, drawn to movements, patterns and deep tonality. Caffery's photography has garnered praise for over thirty years, and has been included in exhibitions from the Smithsonian Institute to the Photo Gallery International in Tokyo. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum, and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. She was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2005. www.anthropyarts.com

Commercial Photographer Joey Lawrence - Photography Techniques

www.silberstudios.tv Joey Lawrence, only 20 years old, is one of the most sought-after commercial photographers in the business. While Joey's commercial work consists of advertisements and work for movies, television, and musicians, his personal work focuses on fine art portraiture around the world. Today, he talks with Marc Silber about techniques for both beginning and established photographers alike One distinct quality in Joey's photos is the clear emotional connection between subject and photographer. Joey concentrates on interacting with the subjects beforehand to make them more comfortable. Often, they are not accustomed to working with cameras, so Joey will spend a day just getting to know them and their culture. He describes these images as collaborations with the subjects, which result in much more powerful photos. Joey encourages photographers to take advantage of all the resources available today. The internet is a great resource, with numerous photography blogs and articles online. To improve one's photography skills, constantly experimenting with new techniques and making mistakes is necessary. Click to subscribe now to stay updated.
