Funk 10 Pin Full-Size String Pinsetter/Pinspotter
This is a Funk 10 Pin String Pinsetter in action. It is not homeade and is a full size machine with a full size lane. It was made in Germany by a company called Funk. You can view their site at funk-bowling.de , however, this string pinsetter is not currently listed on the site. The machines are located at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the student union on East Campus if anyone is interested in seeing them in person.

Qubica MAG3 Pinsetter
I had to upload this as i've never seen such a pinsetter before, quite amazing to watch, mostly from its simplicity.. Trivia from Wikipedia: The Mendes company produced a magnetic pinsetter known as the MM-2001. It featured a flat magnetic pin table and magnets on the head of each pin. It had a pit similar to the AMF and an elevator similar to the GSX. Pin loading involves the combination of a carousel and magazine. The company claimed this technology reduces stops in play due to table jams on out-of-range pins. Mendes was bought out by Qubica, which sold the machine as the MAG3 until its partnership with AMF.
My Homemade Mini Bowling Pinsetter
This is my very first attempt at designing a pinsetter, which is fully manual. I made it out of cardboard and duct tape and sets 10 miniature bowling pins. Although it doesn't set the pins in a perfect triangle like in a real pinsetter, it is still alot faster than setting them up one by one by hand. It took me approximately 6 hours to complete this and I use it on my mini bowling lane seen in this video. The reason for the few second delay from when the pinsetter sets the pins to when I roll the ball is because I am bowling as well as working the pinsetter and it takes a little while to load the knocked over pins into the pinsetter for the next set. Sorry for the delay. Again this is my first attempt at a pinsetter and I plan on on making more of them and hopefully better ones in the future. Pinsetter -- Brunswick A2
This is a late-1950's Brunswick A2 pinsetter, hard at work in 2009. It's sort of like a minivan-sized meat grinder. Another mechanic lost a thumb in one of these about the time I shot this video. Beware lane #26 -- it already has a taste for human blood.

The vertical conveyor on the right side brings both pins and balls up from the lower level into the mechanism. You can see at some point that the balls, since they are of a smaller diameter than the pins overall, will fall through a mid-height channel to travel down the chute back to the bowler. The wider diameter pins travel to the top of the vertical conveyor in order to be set in a line to drop into the pin cups that rotate around a serpentine path on a chain in order to place them in the proper spots for pickup by the pin tray when it is time for their turn to be set in place on the lane floor. The red pin cup that I pointed to at the end is the "last", or in this case, the 10th pin to be set in the cup train, and if the system is mis-aligned such that the last pin is not in the red cup, the system will not function properly.

Pinsetter prototype pin table working
This is the pinstter table from the other video. This time I have improved the pawl shape and cut them out of 12mm polycarbonate. It works?! Im amazed it works so smoothly. Im going to file the slots out to stop the head pin wobbling so much, and im going to mount it on sliding bearing rails too...
