Learn how to install an outdoor playset safely with these tips and instructions from the experts at Lowe's. Find a spot that is free from tree branches and has a six foot safety zone around the playset. Install on solid ground and is level. If your ground isn't level, you can level it yourself. Start by placing four stakes where you want the four corners. Remember to include the length of the slide or other accessories and the safety zone. Wrap mason string around the stakes and level the strings for reference. Start removing the sod at the highest point. Use a shovel or sod remover. The ground should be even with the strings. Use a long level to double check the slope. For assembly, follow the instructions included with your outdoor playset. Lay everything out and start with the main tower, then add the rest of the structure. Then add the accessories like swings, a slide and a rope climb. Once your playset is assembled, be sure to anchor it to the ground. Be sure your anchor is as close to the base as possible. Wrap a strap on the anchor. This is a complete unboxing, put together and demonstration of the features for the Hot Wheels Crash Curve Playset. Note that this video was a last minute decision, and I opened one end of the box before I started the camera, but everything inside was untouched before filming. I understand that this video is very long and, to be honest, almost pointless. However, I really like these older style Hot Wheels city sets (or, in this case, a modern remake of a classic set), so I thought it might be cool to make a video portraying what it is like to put one of these together. Unlike modern sets that have the stickers placed on the set right out of the box, this one requires a good deal of time and patience when applying the stickers, which is the main reason why this video is so long (if you are able to make it through the whole thing, then congratulations, you have no life, just like me!). You will notice that, when comparing this to the newer sets that are "ready for play with out of the box", this one has room for more features, covers more floor space and looks better as a showpiece, whereas many modern sets are quite limited in features because the box size basically determines the size and shape of the set and makes city sets rather awkward in terms of placement of features. For example, a look at some of the Hot Wheels "Flip and Go" playsets and Matchbox "Hero City" playsets exemplify how the "ready to play" sets appear almost two dimensional in where the cars are <b>...</b>

In honor of the TRON: Legacy DVD release, I wanted to show off my custom TRON board game and play set. I got the idea for creating a TRON board game from Terrainaholic on YouTube, who is working on TRON-inspired gaming terrain. I decided to make a board game/playset for me to play with my kids (not for sale, sorry). Sorry in advance for the quality of the pictures. My camera didn't do great in the pitch-dark. Construction: - The board is made from two pieces of smoked acrylic, which I etched on an Epilog laser cutter at my local Tech Shop. The grid was originally supposed to be edge-lit by LEDs, but the tint in the acrylic kept the light from penetrating. So, I taped off and painted the grid with blacklight-reactive paint. - I cut the light trails out of fluorescent orange and blue acrylic, also on the laser cutter. - I bought the TRON vehicles and Recognizer carrying case. I modded the carrying case a bit to include rows of blue and blacklight LEDs. I am in the process of repainting the vehicles with blacklight-reactive paint. - I'm still finishing the carrying cases for the light trails, one of which is in the video. These were made of wood, also on the laser cutter. - Everything is sitting atop a giant lazy susan that I made for gaming. I bought this playset over ten years ago just because it had a Dodge Caravan with Police tampos. It was only available in this set. But now that I am doing videos for YouTube, I thought that it was time to rip it open and put it together for all to enjoy rather than having it just sitting there in a box =) There are eight Treasure Hunts hidden in the video.
