I have tried very hard to take advantage of the green screen trick that I have just learned to give the viewer some idea about spirit of plum blossoms which bloom in the snow. I found theses nice pictures on the internet AFTER I have done the painting and in the video editing process to make it look like I was painting in front of those beautiful flowers instead of the green screen. It worked out just as I expected - to loosen up control over details and concentrate on the oneness of all strokes and the wholesome image in my mind. Prunus mume originated in South China[3] and was later brought to Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, Laos, and Japan. The tree is cultivated for its fruit and flowers. Although generally referred to as a plum in English, it is actually more closely related to the apricot. In China, there are over 300 recorded cultivars of mei, which can be broadly divided by colour into white, pink, red, purple, and light green types. Some varieties are especially famed for their ornamental value, including the Dahong mei (大红梅; literally "big red mei"), Taige mei (lit. "pavilion mei"), Zhaoshui mei (lit. "reflecting water mei"), Lü'e mei (lit. "green calyx mei"), Longyou mei (lit. "swimming dragon mei"). As the mei can usually grow for a long time, ancient mei trees are found throughout China. Huangmei county (lit. "Yellow Mei") in Hubei features a 1600-year-old mei tree from the Jin Dynasty which is still flowering.

Zhao Fu Lin Plum Blossom Spear
Zhao Fu Lin gave this performance at a competition in China's Henan Province, in 1999, at the age of 71. The Plum Blossom Spear (mei hua qiang) derives its name from the pattern the red tassel makes as the spear is turned. Master Zhao learned mei hua qiang from Cui Jing Ming, the head of the Henan Public Security Bureau in the 1930s and 40s. He now resides in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.

How to Mount my Plum Blossom Chinese Painting with Silicone Paper for Dry Mounting
Mounting has been a bottleneck in promoting Chinese painting in the world because most framing shops in the West do not know how to flatten the painting on rice paper, which traditionally is done with a sophisticated wet-mounting process. Dry mounting with silicone paper is a cutting edge technology invented in Japan that makes the mounting process so easy. I have adopted it two years ago and have not done any wet mounting since. The advantages of dry mounting include color safe(no running of bleeding colors, fast(no waiting time), and stable(no preservatives needed as in making flour paste), while it does the same function of wet mounting: enhance the color intensity and brightness and flatten the painting before framing. Shaolin Plum Blossom Saber
The Shaolin Plum Blossom Saber is a famous Shaolin set. The Shaolin Saber is often figuratively described as a "ferocious tiger". There is a kung fu saying that the "spear is like a dragon and the saber is like a tiger". The Saber is often called a "broadsword" in modern kung fu literature written in English. I prefer to use the term "saber" to maintain the Chinese flavor. In Chinese, the term "sword" refers to a light, straight, two-edged weapon, whereas a "saber" is heavier, curved, and has single edge. The techniques and skills in using a Shaolin Saber are different from those of the Shaolin Sword. This video was taken in 2004. The saber is made of high-carbon steel, and is both heavy and sharp.
