"Five Minutes Of Funk" was a hit single from "Escape", the second album by hip-hop group Whodini, released in 1984 on the Jive label. In 1998, the album was selected as one of The Source's 100 Best Rap Albums. Whodini is a hip-hop group that was formed in 1981. The Brooklyn, New York-based trio consisted of vocalist and main lyricist Jalil Hutchins (one of the few rappers at the time to go by his real name), co-vocalist John Fletcher aka Ecstasy (who wore a Zorro-style hat as his trademark), and turntable artist DJ Drew Carter aka Grandmaster Dee. Whodini was among the very first hip-hop groups to cultivate a high-profile national following for hip-hop music and made significant inroads on urban radio. As they were contemporaries of other hip-hop groups such as the Fat Boys, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and Afrika Bambaataa, the group was managed by Russell Simmons, brother of Joseph 'Run' Simmons of Run-DMC. The group signed with London-based independent record label Jive Records in 1982. They enjoyed a string of hits for several years, mostly charting on Urban and R&B radio stations. The bulk of production on their releases was done by Larry Smith, a bass player who also handled much of Run-DMCs early work. In keeping with the 1980s trend, Whodini's albums tended to be synthesizer-driven with a heavy electronic drumbeat. Antics is the second studio album by American post-punk revival band Interpol, released in September 2004. The album went on selling 488000 copies in the US and over 100000 in the UK. Although more confident than its predecessor, Turn on the Bright Lights, it largely repeats the same formula of sparse arrangements driven by throbbing bass and strong drums, and intricate guitar lines reminiscent of The Chameleons, with vague, evocative lyrics sung in a resonant, somber voice by vocalist Paul Banks. Musically speaking, the general tone of this record is remarkably brighter than its darker predecessor. It made the top 10 list of several music critics for the year of 2004. The new SL has been produced for the first time almost entirely from aluminium and weighs up to 140 kilograms less than its predecessor. Its highly rigid all-aluminium bodyshell provides the basis for agile, sporty handling that has been taken to an entirely new level, coupled with exemplary roll characteristics and ride comfort. The new V8 in the SL 500 develops 320 kW (435 hp) from its displacement of 4663 cc and thus around 12 percent more than its predecessor despite some 0.8 litres less displacement. The fuel consumption has been reduced by up to 22 percent. At the same time, the torque has increased from 530 Nm to 700 Nm -- a gain of 32 percent. The 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission, which has been optimised in relation to fuel consumption and comfort, also contributes to the exemplary, low fuel consumption. The fuel economy of the BlueDIRECT engines takes nothing away from the roadster's raciness. The SL 500 takes just 4.6 seconds -- eight tenths less than the previous SL 500.

BMW's New F10 M5 will be available from 19 November and make its UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 30 June - 3 July 2011. It's the pure embodiment of 'controlled' performance - more powerful and efficient than its predecessor with a 552 bhp twin-turbo V8 engine featuring valvetronic and vanos. It's a completely different engine to the similar looking engine in the X5 M - higher revving, better breathing and different turbochargers with more boost (1.5bar vs 1.2bar). Performance is blisteringly quick with 0-62mph easily accomplished in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 189mph (with M Drivers pack). Perhaps the most astounding achievement is the CO2 emission figure of 232 g/km, which is a whopping 125 g/km better than its E60 M5 predecessor.

July 26, 2010: Philippine President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III- First State of the Nation Address (SONA 2010) Noynoy's first SONA aaplauded 32 times. Judging by the loud applause of the crowd, it seems that President Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III has made good on his promise to make the State of the Nation Address (SONA) "memorable." The audience at the Session Hall of the House of Representatives at the Batasan Pambansa Complex in Quezon City, applauded the President's SONA 32 times. The last SONA of his predecessor, former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, was applauded 126 times in 2009. Although his SONA received less applause, Aquino's trust ratings are considerably higher than those of his predecessor. Pulse Asia's survey says that PNoy's trust rating is at 85 percent. The Social Weather Station, on the other hand, pegs PNoy's trust rating at 88 percent. Pulse Asia says this is the highest trust rating ever recorded by any individual included in their trust probes since 1999. One of the most awarded small cars in 2010, the Volkswagen Polo, gains another sibling, the Polo GTI. Consistent with current Volkswagen form, the new Polo GTI is more powerful than its predecessor, more fuel efficient, and yet these gains are achieved with a smaller capacity engine than that in the old model Polo GTI. Under the bonnet of this latest Polo GTI (instead of a 1.8-litre turbo engine) resides Volkswagen's latest generation 1.4-litre twin charge powerplant. Twin charging the engine means supercharging and turbocharging. This maximises the potential to wring the most power and torque. Co-incidentally it's the same size engine used in the current Golf range but with more power. This latest GTI has more power (132kW) and torque (250Nm) -- up 22kW and 30Nm compared with its predecessor. Importantly, it achieves this but uses 24 per cent less fuel than the old GTI at 6.1 litres per 100km. The Polo GTI feels as though it's inherited much of the Golf GTI DNA, right down to the 17-inch 'cookie cutter' or Denver style alloys -- the same size as the Golf GTI. From the front the GTI badge sits on the trademark GTI honeycomb grille with larger air intakes incorporated in the front apron. The Polo GTI sits 15mm lower compared with the rest of the range and a subtle colour-keyed roof spoiler and dual chrome exhausts set the Polo GTI apart from the rest of the Polo models. The Sims 2 is a strategic life simulation computer game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. It is the sequel to the best-selling computer game, The Sims, which debuted on December 14, 2000.
