This is a temporary fix for the fat ps2 grinding when playing a blue backed disc (ps2 cd based game). According to a user in the video comments, this fixed the problem with his black backed games (ps1 games, which are also cd format.) The model is scph 39001 date code 2C. This is my cousins ps2 that I just repaired last night (It wasn't reading ANYTHING). Now It reads everything but grinds...not a problem. What I did was take 2 small pieces of tape and put one on each side of the hole in the center of the disc. This works becuase the problem is caused by the white magnet on the drive cover. The magnet isn't gripping the lighter disc well enough. It isnt scratching your game, its just slipping. You can replace the magnet from a dead ps2, or just do this trick. More videos to come! Note that if your ps2 doesn't try to read blue backs, or gives a disk read error or RSOD, THEN THIS WILL NOT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM. That is a laser issue and a new magnet or the tape trick will NOT solve the problem.

This video is to help with laser alignment on the ps2,i mention that ive never had to adjust the laser well since this video i came across a ps2 where i had to adjust the laser so i recommend trying this method first then laser pot adjustment. Also when adjusting the height of the laser dont go too high or too low or you will scratch whatever disk your testing.

A short guide to buying a used ps2 from ebay. As far as I know, there is no way of telling the difference between slim models, I'd ask for model number. if they say scph 70012...dont buy. If you are buying a used ps2 from gamestop, simply ask them if you can open up the box it comes in and look at it. This is how you check for the model number. This is what I used to do and they let me look at it every time. I was glad, becuase I was about to buy a scph 30001 model, and I wouldn't have known till I got home with it. I refused the ps2, came back later, and was offered a scph 39001. I accepted, but unfortunately, the ps2 didn't work when I got it home. So I got a refund and bought my current ps2 with that money.

I was reading on forums that people had problems with the motor not spinning for the PS2 Slim. That when they closed the lid, the Ps2 wouldn't read anything. My friends Ps2 had this problem. I decided to take a look. I figured that if the motor wasnt spinning, it might have been an internal problem. So I opened it. When I opened the Ps2 I saw this screw that was out of its place. So i pushed it back in(That fixed the problem where the laser wasn't able to move. ). After that I was puzzled. Even with that screw pushed in, the Ps2's motor didn't spin. I then decided to dettach the motor. I turned the Ps2 back on without the motor and the Laser was reading the disk. Unlukily there was a disk read error. With the laser moving and all, I figured that if I put the motor back , then the PS2 would be able to read the disks and i looks like my hypothesis was right. I know it isn't the best of my capabilities, but often, this takes time as you may have to do it several times before it works. It can get frustrating, so be patient and not aggressive or you will break something. That is not my fault if you act like a hooligan. This is the REAL fix for the blue/black disc grinding. This little magnet needs to be replaced. If/when you replace it, you don't need tape on your discs anymore, they will work like new. Unless you have a laser problem.

This is a friends ps2 that I first tried cleaning the top laser lens to no avail. Then I adjusted the white gear on to move the laser up and down and change the angle but that did not work. I then cleaned the laser rails and gear and greased them and still disc read error. I got online and found another problem that I never knew about. There is a secondary larger laser lens under the top one. I then proceded to take out 2 little screws and take the upper part of the laser off and under it sure enough was a lens 4 times larger than the top lens. I had dust all over it and I cleaned it with qtip and rubbing alcohol and put it all back together and worked as good as new.

After 141 hours and 27 minutes on my best FFX save, I obtained everyone's ultimate weapons, customized what I like to call "ultimate armor" for everyone, defeated every monster arena monster and completed the entire sphere grid with every character; maxing everyone's HP, MP, Strength, Defence, Magic, Magic Defence, Agility and Luck. Weapon: Jaws Song Name: VOID Genre: Industrial Challenge: This level is the hardest one for me. It doesn't have any tune, you can't play along with it. If I try again now I could probably do better than I did in this video but I'm not joking when I say that it took me 2 hours to record this level that is around one minute long. It's one long guard phase and even though you can do the first half of it flawlessly by just grinding it into your fingers the second half is a pile of random notes that you can't learn because you never get the chance to practice them. I hate this level. It's not even a song! The only tip I can give... don't give up. At least I beat it on easy. xx I didn't want to spend more time on a level than this since the song still sounds the same even if you miss notes. Blergh.
