Psychoactive Drugs in Human History

A few examples of how drugs have shaped humanity throughout history. I cover alcohol, marijuana, and magic mushrooms. Note: I don't encourage the use of these substances. I don't use these substances myself (with the exception of the occasional beer).

Andrew Weil - Psychoactive drugs through human history (1/5)

Playlist: www.youtube.com Andrew Thomas Weil (Born June 8, 1942) is an American author and physician, best known for establishing and popularizing the field of integrative medicine. Weil is the author of several best-selling books and runs a website and monthly newsletter, where he answers questions relating to health. He is the founder and Program Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine (formerly the Program in Integrative Medicine), which he started in 1994 at the University of Arizona.[1] He has become one of the leading proponents of integrative medicine. He founded Weil Lifestyle LLC. Andrew Weil was born June 8, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA to parents of German and Ukrainian descent. His parents owned a millinery store.[2] While disconnected from the natural world as a child, he excelled academically. He attended both college and medical school at Harvard University. As an undergraduate, Weil took the class Plants & Human Affairs, an ethnobotany class taught by Richard Evans Schultes. He went on to major in botany and wrote his thesis on the narcotic properties of nutmeg,[3] and also served as an editor of the Harvard Crimson and the Harvard Lampoon.[4] After medical school, Weil unconventionally did not seek residency. He completed a medical internship at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco then worked for a year with the National Institute of Mental Health. From 1971-1974, he traveled throughout South America as a fellow for the Institute of Current ...

Psychoactive

Probably late putting in my "smattering of ignorance" on the second theme: psychoactive substances and spiritual awakening. I have benefited from listening to the various experiences and opinions expressed by the respondents, but I realize that I and we still have a lot to learn. I have read and listened to Terrence McKenna, who spoke extensively on this theme - many videos of him are on YouTube. See also Alan Watts, who of course suffered from addiction to alcohol, but had much wisdom.

DOD and CIA Research with Psychoactive Substances

DOD and CIA Research with Psychoactive Substances: MKULTRA, MKNAOMI, MKSEARCH, MKCHICKWIT, and MKOFTEN. by www.NeuroSoup.com Thousands of soldiers were military test subjects during the 1950s through early 1970s. They were either part of the research project code named MKULTRA, or one of its many successor programs, like MKNAOMI, MKSEARCH, MKCHICKWIT, or MKOFTEN. These research programs were funded by the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), largely in response to alleged North Korean use of mind-control techniques on United States prisoners of war in Korea. They hoped to discover a set of psychoactive drugs and other methods, like electroshock and hypnosis, which could be used to brainwash and control opposing forces. They also attempted to create a truth serum that would make interrogations easier. Many different psychoactive substances, like BZ, scopolamine, LSD, and PCP, were tested, just to name a few. Psychoactive Agents Research Chemical Warfare Edgewood Maryland 1950s US Army

Beginning in the mid-1950s, the US Army conducted research involving thousands of human subjects on various chemical agents, including LSD, BZ and marijuana derivatives, to assess their utility for chemical warfare applications. Army doctors gave soldier volunteers synthetic marijuana, LSD, BZ and other psychoactive drugs during experiments aimed at developing chemical weapons that could incapacitate enemy soldiers. The program, which ran at the Army's Edgewood, Md., arsenal from 1955 until about 1972, concluded that counterculture staples such as acid and pot were either too unpredictable or too mellow to be useful as weapons. One of the leading participants in that enterprise, Dr. James S. Ketchum, has published a memoir entitled "Chemical Warfare: Secrets Almost Forgotten." (www.forgottensecrets.net ), a detailed autobiographical reconstruction of the Edgewood Arsenal program of evaluating possible incapacitating agents in human volunteers (enlisted men) during the 1960s. This clip is from the 1950s episode, the Unseen Weapon, from the The Big Picture documentary television program which ran on the American Broadcasting Company from 1953 to 1959. The program consisted of documentary films produced by the United States Army Signal Corps Army Pictorial Service

Psychoactive drugs, a cautionary perspective

The use of psychoactive drugs is often used as a tool for spiritual development. I discuss how the human body-mind vehicle is working perfectly just as it is, and I suggest why the "spiritual" benefits of drug use might go hand in hand with harmful side-effects. darrylslibrary.wordpress.com

How "Active" is Psychoactive (& Why a Cancer Cure)?

What is the relationship between higher states of consciousness and healing the physical body? Paula Gloria discusses with Neal Goldsmith, PhD., a psychedelic psychotherapist possible reasons for an herb like cannabis to give such stunning results once reduced into a high concentration a la Rick Simpson's hemp oil, results like the cure for cancer. Is it really so unusual once we comprehend the implications of what psychedelic means (manifesting the soul) and how all other civilizations placed this healing technology within their medical/psycho-spiritual wellness cultural powerhouse of knowledge!

Lucas and Crew High on Mushrooms

English Mother 3, Chapter 7, Tanetane Island After Master Eddy hit Lucas, Boney, Kumatora, and Duster with an attack that lost all their items and brought their HP to 1, they had to find food. Lucas saw some mushrooms and they decided to eat them. BIG mistake, rather funny consequences. I didn't know just how large Tanetane was so I stopped recording for a bit. When high, I went into a hotspring that Boney wouldn't go in. I knew it probably wasn't a hotspring but at least it healed me. Upon returning when normal, it was a toxic pond. How did I heal?
