TUTORIAL HERE!!! To perform the Pugachev's Cobra, u have to keep the speed at 400 km/h (more or less 190 knots) with the throttle at 75%, then press "K" and pull up the nose; when your speed will approach to 250 km/h, increase the engine thrust and pull down the nose. If you perform it correctly, you shouldn't lose altitude at the end of the cobra. Here it has been performed with an su-27. Hope you enjoyed ^^
When I played the Stonehenge mission in Ace Combat 04 and got to the Yellow Squadron battle, I decided to go in for a guns kill. As I unleashed my GSh-30, the enemy Su-37 pulled off Pugachev's Cobra. I couldn't believe my eyes, because I thought it was impossible (last Ace Combat Cobra I saw was in Ace Combat 2, the ZOE Commander ADF-01). I recorded it in the replay via iPod Touch, and uploaded it here to YouTube for all of you to see. Also, in Ace Combat 5, I fired a missile at a B-2 in the White Bird (Part I) mission, and the B-2 released a flare, confusing my missile. Did this happen to anyone? The Pugachev Cobra is a fighter aircraft maneuver. It is a demonstration of the pitch control authority, high angle of attack (AOA) stability and engine/inlet compatibility at high angles of attack of the aircraft. The maneuver allows for very quick turns which can make an attack fail or put the pilot in a position to execute an attack. It is an example of air combat manoeuvering (ACM). Many Western experts on ACM believe this maneuver has absolutely no value in actual air combat; nonetheless, the Pugachev Cobra is known to be one of the most aesthetic, dramatic, demanding and beautiful maneuvers performed at air shows worldwide. The maneuver is so named after the Sukhoi OKB (design bureau) test pilot Viktor Pugachev, who first performed the maneuver.
