Audi R8 V8 4.2 FSI Quattro Fifth Gear's Review: STYLING Supercars are about visual drama, and if the reactions of passers-by to the R8 are any guide this Audi has it in spades. It's so low it seems almost to be snorting the road through its nose, and spitting debris from its tail. HANDLING This car feels like no other Audi you've driven - deft, delicate, poised, responsive and deeply satisfying. Yet it maintains the Audi virtues of secure, reliable grip - thank the quattro four-wheel drive for that - and an aura of inner strength that only encourages you to push it towards as considerable ESP anti-skid protected limits. The only downside - and it's mild - is steering that sometimes feels inconsistent in its responses, and could do with more feel. COMFORT It has the pace to cover massive distances in a day, this R8, but just as impressive is that it combines this with the comfort to make such a challenge an absolute pleasure. The electric seats are very adjustable, you can get the wheel where you want it to be and the engine, though more than audible, is not so insistent as to turn wearing by your hundredth mile. Some, indeed, will be craving sports exhausts. But the most impressive comfort feature of this Audi is its ride. QUALITY & RELIABILITY If you're picky, you could say that this Audi's interior is a shade too restrained for a car like this, but many will like that soberness - it's precisely the look we expect of Audi today. I heard from a lot of people around me on the camping that there often comes an Audi R8, Most of all in the Weekend. And it was true! On a Friday evening I heard a really nice V8 sound And from that moment i got my camera (Sony Cybershot DSC-H50) and went to the HQ of the camping. WOW there it was! Grey with Silver side blades! The owner asked us if we wanted to go for a ride on Sunday. Yeah!! We don't let us say that twice!!

I believe it is probably fitted with a QuickSilver Titanium exhaust which sadly meant that my microphone (with a low battery) was unable to properly record the insane noise it made - although this gives you a bit of an indication! See some clips of it manoeuvring around as it is parked in the valet area, words seriously can't describe the noise this thing made! 2011 Audi R8 Spyder V8
Potential new customers of the Audi R8 Spyder will have an additional engine choice to consider before placing an order. The German automaker will make the car available with a 4.2-liter FSI V8 engine that produces 430 hp (316 kW) and up to 430 Nm (317 ft-lb) of torque. Up until now, the car had only been offered with a 5.2-liter FSI V10 that kicks out 525 hp (386 kW) and up to 530 Nm (391 ft-lb) of torque, as seen in the pictures here. Photos of the car with the new engine have not yet been released. With the new engine, and the R-tronic sequential manual transmission, the car sprints to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, before hitting its 299 km/h (186 mph) top speed. Quattro all-wheel drive is also included. Fuel consumption with the R-tronic is a 13.9 liters per 100 km, or 17 mpg. With the six-speed manual, that figure jumps to 14.9 liters, or 15.79 mpg. Energy recovered during braking was installed to help improve fuel economy on the R8. The engine features a crankcase made from an aluminum and silicon alloy, and uses forged aluminum pistons with steel connecting rods. It has a separate oil tank and a dry sump lubrication system. Weight for the engine is listed at 216 kg (476 lbs.). Normal options are still available on the car, including leather upholstery, carbon fiber interior fittings, piano black trim, Alcantara headliner, and more. The Audi R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI quattro will hit the German market for €121000, beginning in the third quarter of 2010. www.worldcarfans.com
