Gary, age 66, Austin, Texas. About 3 years ago, at one of his clinics, Dave McGovern demonstrated for us the difference between "walking style" and "running style" racewalking. Actually, that's what I call it; I think he called it "flat-footed" vs. "off the toes". Same thing. Most of us, I think, start out in flat-footed walking style and then it's hell on wheels making the transition. Many -- maybe most -- never too. Too bad, because not only is running style faster, it also feels great. Just rollin' along... So, for the last 3 years, I've been working on developing my running style. Lately -- at last -- I seem to have been making some progress with it. I made this little video mostly to demonstrate on video the difference so I could look at it. One happy thing I see here is that I am getting much farther up on my toes in back. Of course, that's part and parcel of running style. Now if I can develop more flexibility, my gait will lengthen and maybe I'll get a little faster.
