Shin Megami Tensei - Ravana / Indrajit Battle

From Wikipaedia en.wikipedia.org Ravana is a powerful king of rakshasas who ruled Sri Lanka about 6000 years ago.(Devanagari: रावण Rāvaṇa; Khmer: Krong Reap; Malay: Rawana; Lao: Hapkhanasouane; Thai: ทศกัณฐ์ Thotsakan, lit. the person with ten necks) also transliterated as Raavana, Ravan or Revana; ... Ravana - Vishnu's cursed doorkeeper Ravan, the 10-headed infamous demon, was a greater scholar of the Vedas. Not many people know that the true meaning why ravan had 10 heads. The heads are the symbolic way to show the world about his knowledge. He was fully aware of the contents of the six shastras. His knowledge of the six shastras and his knowledge of the four vedas (together ten) is the inner meaning of the belief that Ravana had ten heads. He even knew that Ram was Narayana himself, who had come in human form. However, since there was no other way for him to reach to Narayana, he had to cultivate wanton wickedness, violence and hatred, and invite Ram to kill him. Of course, this might be called a type of devotion that is stupid and infamous. But his inner aim was to cross the ocean of birth and death, through that act of self abnegation and surrender to Narayana. Scriptures also justify this argument: In the Bhagavata Purana, Ravana and his brother, Kumbakarna were said to be reincarnations of Jaya and Vijaya, gatekeepers at Vaikunth, the abode of Vishnu and were cursed to be born in Earth for their insolence. These gatekeepers refused entry to the Sanatha Kumara ...

Shiva Tandav Stotram with Sanskrit Subtitles -- Ankur Nagpal

It is believed that Lord Shiva is the king of all dancers. He was an expert in the Tandava style of dancing. This is a vigorous manly style of dancing. This stotra is about him while in the act of dancing. Alliteration and onomatopoeia create roiling waves of resounding beauty in this great stotra. This stotra which is so majestic was composed by none other than Ravana, the demon king, who ruled over Sri Lanka, who was one of the great devotees of Lord Shiva. Once the proud Ravana conquered the entire India and approached Mount Kailas on top of which Lord Shiva resides with his consort Goddess Parvathi. Ravana called Lord Shiva to come down. When he did not, he uprooted the mountain with his twenty hands. This made Goddess Parvathi jittery. Then Lord Shiva pressed down the mountain with his thumb. Ravana was crushed by the weight of the mountain. There he praised Lord Shiva by singing the Sama Veda and this great stotra composed by him. Lord Shiva was pleased and pardoned him. It is world's first video for Shiv Tandav Stotram having English subtitles. Dedicated to my Guru Lord Shiva.

The Shiv Tandav Stotra Written by the Greatest Shiv Bhakt of all "RAVAN" or "DASHANAND" or "LANKESH', the Ten Headed King of Lanka and Demons, the Great scholar. He had a wish, that every morning he would wake up and be able to see his Lord Shiva, for this he requested Lord Shiva to come and stay with him and he denied so Ravan decided to pick up Kailash Parvat and bring it along with him to the Lanka and he did managed to pick it up on his head but couldn't move against the will of Lord Shiva, So this was the time he decided to win over Lord Shiva with his tapasya (meditation) He played (veena) music with his intestines and sang this stotra and that's where and when this Stotra got made.He also managed to win over Lord Shiva and also got his wish and Lord Shiva gave him a shiv Ling to take along but there was a condition that once this Ling is kept on the ground it couldn't be moved. And the Ravan was tricked by Ganeshji as he asked him to hold on to the shiv ling as he went for the toilet..... This is a small try from My side to put together a story of Ravan, The great scholar who knew everything about himself and his brother Kumbhkaran. That they use to be Jay And Vijay the gate keepers of Lord Vishnu and were cursed by 4 maharishis that they would be takin birth as Daytyas and Lord Vishnu's enemies which was latter on minimized by Lord Vishnu to 3 times and get killed by Lord Vishnu himself and regain their position as the Gate keepers of the Almighty. Ramayana - The Great Indian Epic

Written by the sage Valmiki, the Ramayana is the story of Lord Rama and how his divine plan unfolds. Rama who was born in a royal family was supposed to be the king, but because of his step- mother, he was forced to exile from his kingdom for fourteen years. During this period his wife Sita was kidnapped by a demon called Ravana. Rama with the help of his brother, Lakshman, and an army of monkeys under the leadership of Hanuman, rescued Sita. The Ramayana is also about devotion, loyalty, family roles and respect for elders. It does not begin with the life of Rama, but actually with the people on earth who suffered from the demon named Ravana.

Ram Vijay Dasami (Dussehra) 2009 Part1

The word Dussehra comes from the Sanskrit words `dus` meaning ten and `hara`, meaning annihilated. This day is a celebration of the victory of Lord Rama when he rescued his wife Sita, and destroyed the ten-headed demon Ravana. Ravana had ten heads which represent the evil facets of his character. These heads manifested whenever he got angry, which was quite often! At Bhaktivedanta Manor, every year the Pandava Sena youth group brings to life the adventures of Lord Rama in the form of a drama. The play, based on the epic Ramayan, culminates at the great battle between Lord Rama and Ravana. When Lord Rama takes his final shot with his bow, a huge effigy of Ravana in the field bursts into flames. As the fire burns Ravana to the ground and the smoke bellows, spectators are reminded not succumb to the dictates of lust, anger, greed and envy.

Freespace 2 mission 7 : Slaying Ravana

Here we go, first bombing mission. First thing you have to keep in mind when doing this is that you're flying a huge pile of junk. Slowly. Very slowly. You're loaded with countermeasures to deflect enemy missiles, and your shields are strong, but at one point you just can't handle it anymore. This mission is forgiving though, since the fighters going after your ass aren't very fast either, they're just Basilisks. I ended up having to shoot a few of them down since it was getting a bit too heated up around me. Also note how all my wingmates and the escort wing got slaughtered, seriously guys D: Other thing to note when attacking destroyers or juggernauts, the first targets should always be beam turrets and anti-fighter beam turrets. Like that you can keep the other allied battleship alive to help you out. After that it's just about shooting any target you can find, subsystems or any kind of weapons on the ship. For those who are curious, the name Ravana comes from Hindu mythology. Ravana was the mythic king of the Rakshasas, or the demons. Note that you also come across Rakshasa class cruisers earlier in the game as well. Raavana means 10 headed, which is somewhat fitting when you look at the shape of the ship. Others thing to remember, torpedoes are slow to launch, slow to reload, and are slow to reach their target. Fire them from too far and they'll get shot down, shoot them from too close and you'll get hit by the shockwave. You also have to be careful, since it's ...

Shiva Tandav Stotram

Shiva Tandava Stotra (िशवताण्डवस्तोत्रम्) is a hymn of praise in the Hindu tradition that describes Shiva's power and beauty. It was sung by the demon-king Ravana. Both the fourth and fifth quatrains of this hymn conclude with lists of Shiva's epithets as destroyer, even the destroyer of death itself. Alliteration and onomatopoeia create roiling waves of resounding beauty in this example of Hindu devotional poetry. In the final quatrain of the poem, after tiring of rampaging across the Earth, Ravana asks, "When will I be happy?" Because of the intensity of his prayers and ascetic meditation, of which this hymn was an example, Ravana received from Shiva the boon of indestructibility by all powers on heaven and earth — except by a human being. Disdaining the seeming weakness of humans, Ravana abducted the wife of Rama, Lord Vishnu incarnate. India's great epic, the Ramayana, tells the story of this abduction and of the battle between Lord Rama and Ravana which shook the universe.

We explore the eastern concept of sin as it pertains to various Hindu mythological stories. In this dance, we present lust through the story in the Ramayan: Ravan and Sita.: This piece explores the destructive nature of lust as it appears in the Ramayan. The piece opens with Ram hopelessly searching for Sita; however, Ravan has already whisked her away to his kingdom of Lanka, where he imprisons her in a garden that is guarded by demons. He fruitlessly tries to coerce Sita into marriage, but her resilience and rejection frustrates him. He is further angered that he cannot even touch Sita, for her purity burns him. Later, Sita dreams of her memories with Ram, playing the veena for him and making a flower garland for him. However, her dream is interrupted by Ravan, who becomes infuriated upon seeing Sita's own desire for Ram. Ravan's lust for Sita drives him nearly insane; during Ravan's last attempt to marry Sita, Ram arrives in Lanka and ultimately defeats Ravan with his bow and arrow.
