The 18 Megapixel Canon EOS 60D is a highly specified APS-C format camera that is the first EOS DSLR to feature a flip-out LCD screen and offers some impressive in-camera features (including RAW processing), Full HD movie shooting and a range of re-designed controls to make it easy and intuitive to operate. The camera's groundbreaking 3-inch, 1104000-dot Vari-angle Clear View LCD monitor provides great viewing options for both Live View and EOS Movie shooting, even at awkward angles or in very bright light. The EOS 60D offers full HD movie shooting with full manual control over the exposure and user selectable frame rates including 24, 25 and 30fps at 1920x1080p, and 50 or 60fps at 1280x720p. Audio recording levels can be left in Auto or manually set to provide more control over the final results. The ergonomic controls of the EOS 60D include a Mode Dial lock to avoid accidentally knocking the selected mode out and the buttons on the top LCD panel have been modified so there is only one button per function - for AF, Drive, ISO and Metering. At the centre of the Quick Control Dial on the rear of the camera a rocker switch functions in the same way as the Multi-Controller on other EOS DSLR cameras to help speedy operation of settings.

If you know the difference, you can easily skip this video. There are no secret surprises or revelations here. However, if you do not know the strengths and weaknesses of each, then by all means, watch and learn. This Photoshop Tutorial is an overview of the RAW file format. No real detail is covered. Rather, this is a dip your feet in, and see why it is the choice of professional retouchers and photographers. In short, JPG, or otherwise known as JPEG, is a lossy compression format. This means, that in order to keep the file size as small as possible, pixel data and other information is literally thrown away. Basically, if you have two very close shades of blue pixels next to each other, it will make one pixel the same as the other, and discard the extra information. The less information, the smaller file size. RAW format, however, retains every little detail in such a way, that a file can be easily manipulated with a RAW processing program such as Adobe Photoshop's built in converter, Adobe Lightroom, Apple Aperture, or Phase One's Capture One.

I'm not a fan of HDR myself, but some people are and it can be useful sometimes, so I thought I'd share my method on making a HDR photo from a single exposure. I've also included methods of increasing latitude without making the photo *look* like HDR. What you need: A camera that can shoot in RAW format (you CAN technically do this with JPEG but success rates are much lower compared to when using RAW) A computer Lightroom, Photoshop, Aperture or some other RAW processing application A basic understanding of manual exposure shooting (you need to underexpose shots where there is harsh lighting)
