Ray Charles - Georgia On My Mind (From "Live At Montreux 1997")

For more info - www.eagle-rock.com Ray Charles was one of the true pioneers of soul music. Born in Georgia in 1930 he was one of the first performers to mix gospel, R & B and jazz to create a new form of black pop music that would come to be known as soul. His voice and delivery were strikingly different and instantly recognisable. He had his first hits in the early 50's and was still hitting the charts into the 21st century. His death in June 2004 from liver disease was front page news around the world. This concert was filmed at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 19, 1997 and features Ray Charles and his orchestra, led by sax player Al Jackson, and of course The Raelettes. The full performance is available on the Eagle Vision DVD "Live at Montreux 1997", out now.

Ray Charles "(Night Time Is) The Right Time" (1958)

en.wikipedia.org "Night Time Is the Right Time" is a blues song recorded by Roosevelt Sykes, aka "The Honeydripper", April 29, 1937 (Decca 7324). In 1938 two more versions of the song were recorded. Big Bill Broonzy recorded it May 5, 1938 (Vocalion 04149/Conqueror 9073). Roosevelt Sykes recorded a second version "Night Time Is The Right Time #2" April or May 1938 (Decca 7438). Roosevelt Sykes was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1999 and Big Bill Broonzy in 1980. The song was subsequently recorded by Nappy Brown in 1957. A hit version of the song recorded by Ray Charles was released as a single in late 1958. It was also featured on the album Ray Charles at Newport and The Genius Sings the Blues. Charles was helped in the song by lead Raelette Margie Hendricks, who sang a raspy and demanding vocal to Charles' own raspy baritone and wails. The song made a modest appearance on the pop singles chart, peaking a number ninety-five, while making a more impressive showing on the R&B singles chart at number five. "Night Time Is The Right Time" took on a life of its own more than 25 years later when cast members who played Bill Cosby's Huxtable family of The Cosby Show lip-synched the song to help celebrate Cliff Huxtable's parents' 49th wedding anniversary in 1985 and helped the show become a huge ratings winner.

Here can be your advertisement. The Miami Lighthouse for the Blind James L.Knight Center in Miami,Florida,1999 Composer : Samuel A. Ward , Katharine Lee Bates Lyrics : Oh beautiful, for heroes proved, In liberating strife, Who more than self, their country loved, And mercy more than life, I'm singing about United This America, sweet America, may God thy gold refine, Till all success be nobleness And every gain devined. And you know when I was a little boy, I remember we always sing it like this : Oh beautiful, for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties, Above the fruited plain, America,America, God done shed his grace on thee, Oh yes He did,He did He crowned thy good,oh don't you remember? In a brotherhood, From sea to shining sea. You know, I wish I had somebody to help me sing this America, I love you America, you see, My God he done shed his grace on thee, And you oughta love him for it, He, he, he, he, crowned thy good, He told me he would, with brotherhood, From sea to shining sea Oh,yea Jesus, I want to thank you Lord. Ray Charles - Hit the Road Jack (2010 Digitally Remastered Studio version)

Probably the "cleanest" version of Hit the Road Jack. Couldn't find it on YouTube, so here it goes. I WILL DELETE THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF COMMENTS: 1. Claims that this is not Ray Charles. It is Ray Charles. It's a 2010 Digital Remaster from the "Golden Voices" Collection. 2. Posts about YT user "MysteryGuitarMan" who apparently used a version of this song on one of his videos. - Nobody cares about that guy, so stop posting about him.
