nucleosynthesis with a farnsworth-hirsch-fusor - a homemade nuclear fusion reactor that, in this case, fuses deuterium (H-2) atoms. the result is an intense output of x-radiation - and neutron radiation, which allows for activation of eg silver! in mentioned process, nuclear transmutation occurs by silver atoms capturing neutrons released by the fusion reaction - thus, turning into radioactive isotopes of silver which will then beta-decay into cadmium atoms.

Nuclear collapse looms? Fukushima No. 4 reactor 'leaning'

A small group of evacuees have briefly been allowed inside the exclusion zone around Japan's damaged Fukushima nuclear plant. For the first time, the government gave permission for short visits so people could gather belongings and check on their properties. Meanwhile, a recent map of contamination released by Japan shows high levels of radiation well outside the evacuation zone. Dr Robert Jacobs can help shed more light on this. Japan Nuclear Reactor Meltdown - Preventative anti radiation measures with Potassium iodide

Japan 2011 - A meltdown is a catastrophic failure of the reactor core, with a potential for widespread radiation release. Attempts to avert a possible nuclear crisis came after Edano said there is a "possibility" of a meltdown at Fukushima's No. 1 reactor. He then said authorities are also "assuming the possibility of a meltdown" at the facility's No. 3 reactor. Due to the way the trade winds blow, a meltdown could send radiation flowing into the United States. Radioactive iodine may also contaminate the local food supply and get into the body through food or through drink. When radioactive materials get into the body through breathing, eating, or drinking, we say that "internal contamination" has occurred. In the case of internal contamination with radioactive iodine, the thyroid gland quickly absorbs this chemical. Radioactive iodine absorbed by the thyroid can then injure the gland. Scientists Keep Radiation in Its Place

There are two types of radiation: non-ionizing radiation, from sources such as visible light and radio waves, and ionizing radiation, from radioactive materials or x-ray equipment. Ionizing radiation can be harmful to humans -- but it can also be useful. Nuclear reactors use a process called fission to release the energy stored in radioactive materials like uranium. That energy powers all Navy aircraft carriers and submarines. The reactors are carefully shielded to prevent radiation from leaking out -- but since ionizing radiation can damage cells, sailors who work near the reactors need to be protected. So engineers at NAVSEA Carderock in Bethesda, Md., are researching and testing devices that monitor radiation.

Poisoned Recovery: Kids radiation positive in Fukushima zone

Some 45 per cent of 1080 children under 15 from the Japanese Fukushima Prefecture have tested positive for thyroid exposure to radiation, a nuclear watchdog report says. The screening was performed by Japan's Nuclear Safety Commission between March 26 and March 30 in the wake of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, the independent body said on Tuesday. Among those who tested positive, the degree of exposure was measured at 0.04 microsieverts per hour or less in the majority of cases. The maximum measured was 0.1 microsieverts per hour in a one-year-old. The government-established threshold for further investigation is 0.2 microsieverts per hour, so no emergency probe will be undertaken, officials said.

REALIST NEWS -Radiation, movies that predicted and the next big quake.

www.realistnews.net I mention that someone who messeged me in youtube has a friend that worked in the nuclear power industry for many, many years and was telling him what the situation realliy is. Here is what he said "... a surge of radiation..." means an increase in fission activity. These units are shut down. The fuel pellets are loose. The only theory I can devise is that the pellets have gathered into a critical mass and are becoming the blob I mentioned earlier. Somewhere in my news travels today, I read about the most recent fire in #4 at 0100 GMT Wednesday (about 3 PM PDT). It was billowing black smoke through the cracked containment building roof. They managed to put the fire out. Then it started billowing white smoke. Shortly after that, the order was given to abandon ship. There are now NO efforts underway to pump sea water on these reactors, or anything else for that matter. That suggests to me that the white smoke is actually burning concrete, and their assessment is the same as mine. It's time to save what's left of their butts and get as far away from that site as possible, because even a suicide mission cannot succeed now. As much as I try to avoid sounding like a Prophet of Doom (even when I agree on most points with those who wear that mantle willingly), I think it's time I leveled with you about the true scope of disaster that now seems likely. Some reports I read said there were 5 reactors at the FD site. Others said 6. I haven't bothered to confirm <b>...</b>

It's official: Fukushima now a new Chernobyl as radiation rises to max

Japan has upgraded the severity rating at the paralyzed Fukushima nuclear plant to seven, a level only ever previously assigned to the Chernobyl disaster. Officials say it's been raised, because high radiation has been recorded in the air, ocean and tap water. But Japan's nuclear safety agency is still reluctant to compare the dangers to what happened at Chernobyl, saying the radiation leak is still smaller. PackBot Camera: Powerful robot video from inside Fukushima reactors

TEPCO has released multiple videos showing two PackBots navigating inside Fukushima reactors. It comes as the 20-kilometre evacuation area around Japan's paralysed nuclear complex, has become an official no-go zone. The announcement comes after police found more than 60 families still living within the contaminated area. The plant, crippled by both the earthquake and tsumani, has been hit by a series of explosions and has leaked radiation into the air, ground and sea. Although people had been urged to leave the area after the March 11th disaster, the order was not enforced by law.

Japan Dead Zone: Video of search for bodies in Fukushima radiation shadow

Japan's government has ordered the operator of the Fukushima nuclear plant to pay some $12000 to each household forced to evacuate because of radiation leaks. It is estimated the compensation bill could end up topping 25 billion. However, the country's leadership has come in for its own criticism, from those still living in shelters a month on from the quake. They say helps been too little, too late. It comes as emergency response crews are finally carrying out intensive searches for tsunami victims near the nuclear plant, delayed over radiation fears. Full meltdown in full swing? Japan maximum nuclear alert

In Japan, radiation levels in the seawater near the Fukushima plant continue to rise. They're now more than 3.5 thousand times higher than normal. Radioactive material has also been detected in soil at the facility. Japan's government described the situation as serious and unpredictable. Workers have been unsuccessfully trying to restore the plant's cooling system, in what is now the worst atomic crisis since Chernobyl. There's been some debate over whether there are any similarities between the two events. RT talks to Professor Christopher Busby, of the European Committee on Radiation Risks. Japan Radiation in America: Thyroid Gland Health with Iodine & Iodide by Dr. Jennifer Fisher, ND

www.thenaturalguide.com (Video by Larry Cook) Naturopathic Doctor Jennifer Fisher gives an overview of how best to protect and nourish the thyroid gland, which is susceptible to radioactive iodine. High does emergency potassium iodide tablets should never be taken unless a nuclear event occurs within miles of someone because such extremely high doses of potassium iodide will cause health problems. Dr. Fisher addresses this topic, and gives an overview of what the thyroid gland is, what it does, ways we can nourish it, and if we want to take supplemental iodine, how to do so. Main Talking Points • Do not take emergency potassium iodide - it will harm you • The thyroid gland produces thyroid hormones call T3 and T4 • The thyroid gland regulates the body's metabolic rate • The thyroid gland affects every cell in the body • Chemicals and pollution can adversely affect the thyroid gland, as can radiation • The thyroid "soaks up" iodine and iodide like a sponge; unfortunately, it will do so with radioactive iodine as well. • Cancer can be a result of radioactive iodine exposure • Hypothyroidism: low function metabolism • Hyperthyroidism: fast metabolism • Thyroid requires many nutrients to function properly, not just iodine or iodide • Best thing for the thyroid is to stop eating processed foods and to start eating whole, organic foods so that it can get all the nutrients it requires • Seaweed is an excellent food source of iodine and iodide; often eaten in miso soup • Never <b>...</b>
