This is a very old deer that we rode up on while exploring a new hunting area. He was sleeping in the middle of the road. We thought he was dead until we walked up to him and realized he was just resting. This is one of those once in a lifetime opportunities that most people will never experience. I can only imagine how old he was but I am guessing 7 or 8. He was losing all his hair and was emaciated due to lack of nutrition. He was blind in one eye and deaf. I don't know if his nose even worked anymore. You can tell that he had really bad arthritis in his hips. This deer was probably days away from death.
