Bloomberg sought federal permission on Wednesday to bar New York City's 1.7 million recipients of food stamps from using them to buy soda or other sugared drinks. The request, made to the United States Department of Agriculture, which finances and sets the rules for the food-stamp program, is part of an aggressive anti-obesity push by the mayor that has also included advertisements, stricter rules on food sold in schools and an unsuccessful attempt to have the state impose a tax on the sugared drinks. Public health experts greeted Mr. Bloomberg's proposal cautiously. George Hacker, senior policy adviser for the health promotion project of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, said a more equitable approach might be to use educational campaigns to dissuade food-stamp users from buying sugared drinks. Hewlett and Packard first met as undergraduate students at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. After graduation in 1934, Hewlett went to MIT to earn a master's degree in electrical engineering, while Packard worked at General Electric. Following these pursuits, both returned to Stanford—Hewlett to receive his degree of engineer and Packard to start a fellowship. During this time, the two were encouraged to contribute to the foundation of a technology community in the Palo Alto area, today known as Silicon Valley. In 1939 Hewlett and Packard established their enterprise in Packard's garage. A coin toss decided their company name—the result was the Hewlett Packard Company. IMG Reliance Scholarship Recipients Training at the IMG Basketball Academy
In mid-September 2010, 29 young, aspiring athletes, including Satnam Singh Bhamara, from India arrived on the grounds of IMG Academies to begin a year of growth and training among world class coaches, facilities, programs and sports camps. They are the first group of students to benefit from the IMG Reliance Scholarship Program. The program is part of a greater initiative of IMG Reliance Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between IMG Worldwide and the India-based Reliance Industries. IMG Basketball Academy Director Andy Borman and his coaches travelled to India to evaluate youth basketball talent. Eight children (four boys and four girls) were chosen during the trials. The boys have joined the IMG Academy developmental team and are coached by Nate Vander Sluis, former Division I four-year letterman for Miami of Ohio University. The girls are coached by Shell Dailey, former University of Texas player and WNBA coach.

For those of you interested in the Medal of Honor I have had the privilege of creating a documentary film titled "A Hero's Welcome" that focuses on Lt. John Finn, the first Medal of Honor recipient from WWII. Gainesville's Medal of Honor event is coming up on April 4^th^ where my film will premiere. 10 to 15 of the living 98 recipients will be in attendance. They are the first group of students to benefit from the IMG Reliance Scholarship Program. The program is part of a greater initiative of IMG Reliance Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between IMG Worldwide and the India-based Reliance Industries. The U15 Indian National Soccer Team is the first official group of Indian soccer players to train together for a full year. IMG Soccer Academy Director Tom Durkin is working closely with the team. Durkin has coached at every level from youth soccer to Major League Soccer and US National Teams. Goalkeeping coach Scott Bowers and coaches Scott Dean and Keith Fulk, are also working closely with the team.

Sarah Zaman, Urdu VOA News, Washington Pakistani woman Ghulam Sughra was among the ten recipients of the State Department's International Women of Courage Award this year. This report includes highlights of the event and an interview with Sughra. Sughra received this award for her NGO Marvi Rural Development Organization that is working across rural Sindh in Pakistan on projects of health, education, social mobilization and women's welfare. Sughra says she was a 22-year-old mother of two when her husband divorced her for not being literate. She took this as a challenge and with the help of her children learned to read and write. Sughra now holds a graduate degree in Sociology and is working as a teacher.

A new investigation from ColorLines Magazine supported by the Nation Institutes Investigative Fund shows that some poor families are forced to sell their food stamps on the black market for cash in order to survive this prolonged recession. We speak to journalist Seth Wessler, whose investigation focuses on the impact of both the recession and welfare reform in Hartford, Connecticut, a state which has the shortest welfare time limit in the United States. They are the first group of students to benefit from the IMG Reliance Scholarship Program. The program is part of a greater initiative of IMG Reliance Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between IMG Worldwide and the India-based Reliance Industries. Following a number of trials, including a trip by Nick Bollettieri to India to evaluate talent, five scholarship recipients were selected. The two boys are coached by top IMG Bollettieri Tennis Academy coaches David "Red" Ayme and Greg Hill. Ayme and Hill have worked with countless ATP and WTA champions including Tommy Haas, Boris Becker, Marcelo Rios, Mary Jo Fernandez, Iva Majoli and Alexandra Stevenson. The girls are primarily coached by Cougar Arande, who has been with the Academy for a decade working with top female professionals including Jelena Jankovic and Tatiana Golovin.

This video pays tribute to the surviving 99 (86) Medal of Honor recipients. It need be noted that on October 6, 2010, the first living recipient since the Vietnam war was honored at the White House. SSG Salvatore Giunta, who is assigned to 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, for service in Afghanistan. They all finally arrived in Gainesville to honor a dozen beloved and herioic Americans. As over 200 bikers rode from DFW airport to Gainesville, patriotism seemed to replace rush hour angst along the highway. "People were standing by the side of the road with flags cheering, I had trouble seeing I was teared up, it is an indescribable feeling, said Bill Cox, who rode in the processional today.
