An R&B song written and recorded by Robert and Johnny in 1958. That's Johnny Carr and Robert Mitchell. You may love the song from Ritchie Valens' performance. Both versions are found on youtube. There were a few other great recordings, some very rare. 1) The Belmonts - 1960 on the Laurie label, after the split with Dion, and before they moved to the Sabina label. A non-hit, but what do you think. 2) Jimmy Velvit - 1961. A local #1 around Dallas, uncharted nationally. (has a scratch) 3) Jimmy Velvet - 1963. A hit in various regions, #75 nationally. These two Jimmys were associated, but different singers. 4) Peaches and Herb - on the 1967 album Let's Fall In Love on the Date label. Jimmy Velvet has a reissue album available titled "Reflections Of ... JV's Greatest Hits", and also a book. Velvit has had a reissue CD in recent years but it's now unavailable. He has also issued new material. The Belmonts song was reissued on single and on CD a few years ago. I hope this helps create demand for reissues and helps the artists. In case of objections please contact me directly, so the entire channel is not removed.

This song is a sophisticated and witty spoof of New York high society and its strict etiquette (the first line of the verse is significant: "I get too hungry for dinner at eight...").
