Paintball Accuracy at 10K fps with rifled barrels
Got this from a guy at Hammerhead Paintball. Said the slow motion rotating paintball shot was done at 10000 frames per second. Sony Phantom V7 high speed camera. Target shooting done with a handheld marker hitting the target repeatedly at 40 meters. Crazy accurate.

Mossberg 500 Rifled Slug Barrel Problem
New Mossberg 500 rifled slug barrel. Outside finish is wore through on several spots and inside of barrel is pitted to where it looks fouled. It also has large shallow blobby looking pits. This is going back to Mossberg.

This Sine bar hook cut rifling machine was originally owned by "old man Savage". It then was bought from him by an Arizona gunsmith named Bill Sucalie. The diamond rifler, gundrill and gun barrel reamer was bought by Bill from Old man Savage all at the same time. Bob Blake my grandfather purchased Bill's Gunsmith buisness in 1966 to where Bob and my father Dave Blake ran a Barrel Making shop for about 5 Years. We had kept the equipment all of these years and have remained gundrill speacialist ever since. We have now restored the rifling machine and here is the first barrel it has cut in over 40 years.

Using SIM-TEST Ballistic Testing Media that has been recalibrated to match the properties of 10% ordinance gelatin. Brief review pre-shot followed by evaluation of the tested media. Test gun is the Mossberg 590A1 Special Purpose shotgun, 20" barrel. With a muzzle velocity of 1600 fps, this 1 ounce (437.5 grains) piece of lead is packing 2484 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle. Cutting a spiral groove 38 inches long in a guide tube for a rifling machine for a muzzle loading rifle. Spiral is 1 turn in 30 inches. Groove was cut in 10 inch sections at 120 degrees twist and video shows it being finished to full cut width
Rifling a barrel
The gunsmith at the Hensley Settlement in Ewing, Va rifling a barrel the old fashioned way. A single groove is cut at a time using the template that is moved back and forth. Once the groove is cut the template is rotated to the next groove and it is cut.
Helmet Cam: 100 Yard Shotgun Slugs with Mossberg 590
Shooting 12 gauge one ounce rifled slugs at 100 yards with the Mossberg 590. Viewers get the perspective they are taking the shots via the helmet cam. The target was an 18 x 24 steel plate, with a slight elevation drop to the target. There will probably be a sequel at some point; I want to try this again.

see the bullet rotate coming out of a rifled barrel. All modern guns have rifled barrels which stabilize bullets by using gyroscopic effect. Watch the rotation with your own eyes -- the hot bullet makes the ice melt and the low friction cannot stop the bullet from rotating.

Shell comparison in the Mossberg 500 Rolling Thunder
I do a quick review of some shells I picked up at the gun store. Im using a Mossberg 500 Rolling Thunder. If you notice on the end of the barrel, it has what Mossberg calls a "compensator". Its supposed to cut down on the upward kick of the gun and to suppress flashes. Also I was told that this model is also used for door breaching. Since I wont be doing to much of that its kinda pointless. But anyway, lets go! 1. First up is the Remington Slugger Rifled Slug. 1oz slug, 2 3/4" length, 1560fps, 12ga 2. Second up on deck is the Winchester Rack Master HV. 1 1/8oz rifled, 2 3/4" length, 1625fps 12ga. 3. Last up is the big boy, Winchester Magnum Super X Rifled Slugs, 1oz rifled, 3" length, and 1760fps, 12ga. Personally I enjoyed the Remington Slugger because it had the least recoil and was eastest to keep under control. The Rack masters were a bit rough on the wrist. But had the best accuracy out of the three. And the Super X was by far the most powerful with the most recoil. And man did these things kick and have a bite on them. All in all it was a fun day. Maybe next time ill stick with low recoil slugs...

Mossberg 500 pump action shotgun - Extreme value budget gun
Here is a review of the Mossberg 500. This rifle was introduced in 1961. This gun was built to withstand the bad conditions that you encounter when hunting. The 500 comes in many varients that include self defense, hunting, and military models. My particular Mossberg came as a combo set that included a rifled barrel with integral scope mount and a smooth barrel with normal sights. The barrels are easily interchanged just with the turn of a knob. This is a very high quality hunting shotgun that cost me about $270. It is the ultimate in versatility in that I can hunt small game, large game, waterfowl and turkey. I can shoot normal slugs out of the smooth barrel or Sabot slugs from the rifled barrel. Mossberg also claims that the 500 is the only shotgun to have passed the military's torture test in which they fire 3000 rounds of full power buckshot through it. Its direct competitors include the Remington 870. Both are great budget shotguns with many available upgrades.

10th Pa Live Fire 2011
Members of the Western Pennsylvania Civil War Reenactors Society, 10th Pa. Reserves Infantry, Co. 'G' , got together to demonstrate actual live fire of the .58 Cal. Rifled Musket of the Civil War. Members of the Company were equipped with .58 Cal. Springfield and Enfield rifled muskets, and also .69 Cal. 1842 model Springfield. The demonstration started out with individual soldiers firing at the target, then a squad of four soldiers firing a volley, then progressing to the Company firing together in volley fire. The demonstration ended with an individual shooting competition at a target set 150 yards distance. Close up view showing the effects of the .58 Cal. USAS-12 Shotgun (At the Range)
My first time firing a USAS-12 12ga. shotgun. It shot pretty well for me considering it was my first go around. Additionally, I was using max power Brenneke rifled slugs in this gun. The recoil was mostly lateral and if I ever shoot one of these again, I'll make a slight adjustment in my stance and hold to account for this. Hope you guys like this!
