The second recording is from the 1953 RCA Victor studio recording with Renato Cellini conducting. In ihrem Vortrag „Die Geschichte des Kindergartens im Bezug zur Schule" skizzieren Jürgen Reyer und Diana Franke-Meyer zunächst die Anfänge der Kindertagesbetreuung in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts und identifizieren zwei Motive, das sozialfürsorgliche und das bildungspolitische Motiv, die zur Entstehung von Tageseinrichtungen für kleine Kinder geführt haben. Dagegen wird die These der Industrialisierung als Grund für die Entstehung widerlegt. Anschließend beleuchten die ReferentInnen das Verhältnis von Kindergarten und Schule aus einer historischen Perspektive - angefangen bei der konzeptionellen Verflechtung von familienbezogenen mit schulbezogenen Aufgaben in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts, über die konzeptionelle Entflechtung ab Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts und dem Verlust schulbezogener Aufgaben in der Weimarer Republik bis zur Situation heute, die als durch ein Neben- und Gegeneinander von traditionsorientierten und reformorientierten Positionen gekennzeichnet beschrieben wird.
