Robotron: 2084 (Arcade) Gameplay

Gameplay from the arcade version of Robotron: 2084, emulated in MAME32. Driven onward by the drive to invent, man creates the Robotrons. They are so perfect that man is inferior to his own creation. Guided by perfect logic, the Robotrons come to the only conclusion: MAN IS INFERIOR. MAN MUST BE EXTERMINATED. Due to a genetic engineering glitch, you are the only one who can save the last human family. Fire and move separately using two joysticks and save what little of humanity is left!

Classic Game Room HD - ROBOTRON 64 for N64 review

Classic Game Room HD reviews ROBOTRON 64 for the N64 video game console. This arcade style remake by Crave for the Nintendo 64 gets a favorable review from Classic Game Room, actually it gets a smashing review! This game is AWESOME and should be played by all fans of Robotron 2084. Revamped style, graphics and a mind numbing techno beat turn Robotron 64 into a surprisingly entertaining remake of the Eugene Jarvis original. This cartridge based game for the Nintendo 64 won't cost you much these days, but as you can see in the gameplay of the Robotron 64 review, the experience is intense, challenging and explosive. Most of your favorite Robotron characters are back including the brain people, spheroids and tanks, but this time with a completely new style. The N64 controller uses a Robotron style joystick layout (with the buttons) that works fairly well, the graphics are excellent and the animation and gameplay is smooth. We can't recommend Robotron 64 enough and claim that this game is worth the price of a used N64 system by itself. Classic Game Room reviews Nintendo games and posts daily new and old school video game review episodes. Only CGR is the best HD reviewer on YouTube with self proclaimed supremacy over all galactic federations not yet discovered. Classic Game Room! N64 reviews for the Nintendo 64 fans who wants review shows to learn about the best and worst N64 games. Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of ROBOTRON 2084 for the Xbox 360 Xbox Live Arcade XBLA. Designed by Eugene Jarvis and released to the arcades in the early 1980's, Robotron 2084 is one of the best old school classic video games ever created. You are a loner armed with a laser gun facing wave after wave of Robotrons hell bent on wiping out mankind. What will the year 2085 be like, how about 2086? This game asks a lot of questions and leaves few answers. But it does leave a wake of human carnage in its path. This is a hard shooter, sort of like Smash TV (hmmmm.... any similarities, maybe the same awesome designer??) CGRHD will also be covering Robotron 2084 for the Playstation 1 game console in the Williams Greatest Hits collection, Robotron 2084 for Atari 7800 and also Robotron 64 for the N64. Robotron was available in both upright and cocktail format, with the cocktail cabinet being fairly rare. The alternate cabinets also had different graphics (at least the color scheme was different), and are much more difficult to find replacement graphics for. The standard Robotron upright was 6'2'' tall and featured white sides and a black front. It had painted side-art in the form of a '2084' logo and a few stripes (this is a very simple design, and is easy to repaint if your cabinet happens to be scratched up). The control panel is covered with a geometric shape design, and has two 8-Way joysticks and two start buttons. These joysticks are of a peculiar design, but can easily be replaced with a pair of modern joysticks (purchase red ball tops ones, because that is what the originals had). The games marquee has the 'Robotron' logo in a font reminiscent of an early 80s computer. This is superimposed ...

Robotron 2084 (1982 Williams)

A field type shooting 'em up game where it's set in the year 2084, Robotron is a single-screen shoot-em-up in which super-intelligent self-aware robots known as 'Robotrons' - designed and built to help mankind - have revolted against their creators and vowed to either reprogram the humans into Robotrons or, failing this, wipe-out the human race entirely. The player must destroy the robots and rescue the Earth's remaining human families. The player's only weapon is a multi-directional Anti-Robot Laser Gun. Used effectively, it will give players the power to destroy all the Robot waves, with the exception of the indestructible 'Hulk' unit. At the start of the attack wave, players will have three chances to wipe out the enemy and advance to the next wave. Every 25, 000 points players are granted another chance to complete their mission. MAN, WOMAN, CHILD : These are the only three types of human clones left on Earth. Defenseless and easy prey to the Robots, they are totally dependent upon players for their survival and will wander aimlessly until the player makes contact with them. Touching them will place them under the player's protective powers and earn them the following points: 1000 for rescuing the 1st human; 2000 for the 2nd: 3000 for the 3rd; 4000 for the 4th; 5000 for the 5th; and 5000 for every additional human saved. At the beginning of each new wave and when the player loses a turn, rescue scoring will again begin at 1000.

Retro Gaming. I'm extremely grateful to HiroGaems (Doug) for sending this and other games to me, all the way from the USA. http This isnot a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability. It's more a case of me speaking my thoughts while playing the games, many for the first time, and most for the first time in a very long time... so it's all a little spontaneous and random. Predictably, as I never practice before recording, I usually play very badly. Given that I am playing many of these games for the first time, and everything I say is completely off the cuff, you probably shouldn't take what I say overly seriously. The opinions that I express are my feelings at the time, but it's entirely possible that they would be different if I were to take the time to get to grips with the game. However, given that these videos are intended to show that "first time experience", I believe they have some validity or merit. Robotron 64 (N64)

A worthwhile Midway IP revival :o This one remains largely faithful to the old source material of Robotron 2084. Kill as many robots and save as many humans as possible in order to achieve the highest possible score. It starts silly easy but quickly becomes sheer torture to any novice. That said, Robotron 64 is a lot easier than the original game. It does fortunately maintain the 360 degree shooting as well if you intend to use the bulging analogue stick instead of the C-Pad. I think there is also a level of retro charm to Robotron 64 that Midway couldn't even contain with the subsequent Mortal Kombat and Gauntlet titles. Robotron 64 has neat old school sound effects, techno music and colourful visuals similar to Atari's successful Tempest 2000 too. It is a shame most remakes, especially on Xbox Live arcade, haven't followed either example since either. In anycase, don't avoid giving this one a try. It is available as Robotron X on Playstation and PC finally if you're uncapable of finding it on Nintendo 64.

Nice and Games -- Robotron: 2084 [Atari ST]

Robotron: 2084 rules! This arcade game from 1982 was translated decently to the Atari ST in 1987. Originally developed by Vid Kidz (Eugene Jarvis and Larry DeMar...you might recognize those names from classic games Defender, Stargate, and Blaster), Robotron: 2084 pits you against endless waves of robots. You are the last hope for humanity as people devised robots so intelligent that they no longer needed humans and decided, hey what the heck, let's destroy humanity. I can hardly blame them, I mean, what else can robots get enjoyment from. Food? Cartoons? Anyway, you have to stay alive as long as possible, while trying to rescue the last family of humans. Which is one huge family apparently, as they appear in every wave. Actually, I think they are clones or something, but nonetheless...rescue them! Although, when I play Robotron, they are pretty much on their own. I look out for me. They should go get their own laser blasters. So, shoot shoot shoot, run run run, that is the game. And what a fun one it is. This Atari ST version is good, but lacks a certain...something. Mainly, I think it's the sound, the sound effects are pretty bland an unexciting. Also, the animation and movement is quite smooth, which if I remember right, is actually NOT like the arcade. I will have to get out my Midway Arcade Treasures disc for Xbox and see. But I think the robots tend to move in a choppier, more menacing fashion. But what do I know. Hey, I know at least someone has been reading this ...

This is a video Request By: whiteoreoxx Hope you enjoy ! Description Source: en.wikipedia.org Robotron: 2084 (also referred to as Robotron) is an arcade video game developed by Vid Kidz and released by Williams Electronics in 1982. It is a shooting game that features two-dimensional (2D) graphics. The game is set in the year 2084, in a fictional world where robots have turned against humans. The aim is to defeat endless waves of robots, rescue surviving humans, and earn as many points as possible. The designers, Eugene Jarvis and Larry DeMar, drew inspiration from other popular media: Nineteen Eighty-Four and Berzerk. A two joystick control scheme was developed to provide the player with more precise controls, and enemies with different behaviors were added to make the game challenging. Jarvis and DeMar designed the game to instill panic in players by presenting them with conflicting goals and having on-screen projectiles coming from multiple directions. Robotron: 2084 was critically and commercially successful. Praise among critics focused on the game's intense action and control scheme. The game is frequently listed as one of Jarvis's best contributions to the video game industry. Robotron: 2084 arcade cabinets have since become a sought-after collector's item. It was ported to numerous platforms, inspired the development of other games, and followed by sequels. Gameplay Robotron: 2084 is a 2D, fixed shooting game in which the player controls the on-screen protagonist ...
