This video was created to demonstrate what I called the "Chris Thrash Controller" which is an ipod based controller to play shows for Billybob and Looney Bird. The year I started the project was 2005 and the customer was Chris Thrash. My wonderful girlfriend, Kerry, helped me be silly and goof around like young lovers do as we created this video to show Chris how to work his new controller. Today, I post this video as a tribute to Steve Jobs to show how his technology influenced the world in so many unpredictable ways. Thank you to ted Smith for the suggestion. Today, Kerry and I still create new ideas together, and soon, you'll be seeing her concept to give the Tune Machine an upgrade as we continue to laugh and play together with our toy, the Rock-afire Explosion and new technolgy.

So, Charlie called me up and talked me into throwing her a party at ground zero for the Rock-afire, and after everyone agreed to sign liability waivers for all possible accidents, we spent the night touring and laughing through the historic relics of Creative Engineering, Inc., told war stories, and brought in Amy's new year like little kids drinking beer! The date of the party was Feb. 13th, 2010.

What an astounding surprise I had today when walking through a carnival by the sea here in Bray, Ireland. Set up in a trailer amidst a wagon circle of bouncy castles was the Rock-afire Explosion. I hadn't seen them since the late '80s in West Des Moines, Iowa, and had thought the closest I would ever get was the fine documentary made about them a couple years ago. Needless to say, this was a surprise of the highest order -- like something out of a Ray Bradbury story. Luckily I was armed with my camera and so I want to share the love with all of you. They live! I have seen it with mine own eyes! (listen for the drunk Irishman requesting "Greased Lightning" when they're playing -- priceless!)

On Aug. 2 some friends and I traveled to Barboursville, WV to see the Rock-afire Explosion at Billy Bob's Wonderland. I heard this was only one of three public places in the United States that still has a working RAE, and since it was only 2 hours away from my home, I had to take a road trip :) Sadly, this RAE is barely functioning. Especially Rolfe and Earle, it almost made us cry when watching them... :( I spoke with a lady who works there and she said since they don't make the RAE anymore, they can't order any new parts or have them repaired, so I guess they're just playing them out until the eventually die. They're not programmed very well, and they don't play many actual RAE cover songs. However, it was still a treat to see them live after almost 20 years of thinking they didn't exist anymore, and we definitely had some laughs watching them. With permission from the owner of the Rock-afire Explosion copyrights, (Aaron Fechter), I am reposting the first programming project I ever worked on. I've learned a lot about programming since these early days but, since the documentary came out, a lot of people wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So, here it is. I can tell you that this is the show that got everybody programming their own shows including Aaron, who was the only person who could program a show up to that point. This video went crazy on the Internet when it was watched by 250000 people before I even knew what was going on. So, this is really a historic show, and I hope you will excuse the poor camera work. This was thrown together without any concern about minor stuff like "camera shots, lighting, editing, and all that. This show kicked off a crazy ride for me and it looks like Aaron and I will be working on stuff together in the future.

This alternate version of T'was the Night Before Christmas with Rolfe & Earl was for stages who did not get Santa for Christmas season. Circus had seven stores with the Classic Rock-afire and only two Santa/Klunk characters. Different stores would get him on different years. Eau Claire, WI never got him because they were only open two years. Maplewood never got him either since they had a small showroom with only the center stage. Also due to size restrictions, Edina had the New Rock-afire show and couldn't have Santa.
