
Top Black Females in Rock: After Dance/Disco music went underground in 1980, Donna Summer went back to her 60's Rock roots and launched a hopeful but short lived Rock & Roll career. The results were another 2 Grammy nomination for "Best Rock song" in 1981 & 1983 The media poised her as the black Pat Benatar. This song "Cold Love" was Donna's 2nd single off the rock LP "the Wanderer". It was one of the rock songs nominated at the 1981 Grammy award show. Donna Summer is no stranger to Rock & roll, In her teens she joined a Psychedelic-Rock-Band called "The Crow",named because Donna was the only black member of the group. At eighteen, Donna Gaines (Summer) left home and school to take up a major supporting role in the hippy Broadway Rock musical, "Hair".
