Jim Carrey does Axl Rose, not for laughs, dies.

People don't always remember this when they choke over Jim Carrey's "dramatic" acting career, but the poor guy's been trying to show us his intense, edgy side for 20 years. This is a clip of him in the movie The Dead Pool, from 1988. In it, he's acting the part of "Johnny Squares," an heroin-addicted Sunset Strip rocker who is so clearly a knock-off of Axl Rose that he actually lip-synchs Welcome to the Jungle in an alternate version of the music video. And then the director (Liam Neeson!) stops the whole weird thing and Johnny storms off, only to be killed by someone on Clint Eastwood's Dead Pool list. Did I mention that this is Clint Eastwood's last Dirty Harry outing, and that this movie should technically be called Dirty Harry V, co-starring Jim Carrey as Axl Rose? Well, I should have.
