The Rosenfield Forums: Judge Steven S. Alm on Project HOPE Part 1 of 3

The Rosenfield Forum, "Escaping the Prison Trap: How to Have Less Crime and Less Incarceration" introduced groundbreaking ideas and proposals regarding crime control, prison reform, and the politics of the criminal and juvenile justice systems. This event was held on October 8, 2009 in the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, DC and convened some of UCLAs most innovative scholars alongside national and local leaders. The inaugural forum, featured keynote address by the Honorable Steve S. Alm of the Hawaii State Judiciary. Alm is the creator of Project HOPE (Hawaiis Opportunity and Probation and Enforcement), an innovative crime reduction program for drug offenses that has had dramatic success rates. In the video, Judge Alm describes a frustrating sentencing and incarceration system that amounted to little more than a revolving door for minor drug offenders to move in and out of the judicial system. The program has had remarkable success in Hawaii (up to a 50 percent drop in repeat offenses among drug probationers); has been replicated by other judges; and has become the focus of several researchers.

Rosenfield Forums - Changing Lanes: Bold Ideas to Solve LA's Traffic Problems With Mayor Antonio

Traffic congestion vexes every major city on the planet, though few would dispute that Los Angeles is the congestion capital of the developed world. Why is it such a difficult problem to address? Myths about the causes of traffic congestion contribute to the problem, but more importantly, bold ideas to reduce tie-ups are held up in political gridlock. The Rosenfield Forum drew top transportation and policy experts as the UCLA School of Public Affairs Rosenfield Forum addresses a pressing issue at the top of every Angelenos mind. This portion features Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, as he discusses the the politics behind transportation woes and goals.

The What I Be Project by Steve Rosenfield (Ganesh Photography)

You can check out the multiple "What I Be Project" albums at Album 1 www.facebook.com Album 2 www.facebook.com Album 3 www.facebook.com My photography page on Facebook is here www.facebook.com The "What I Be Project" is all about honesty. In today's society, we are told to look or act a certain way. If we differ from these "standards," we are often judged, ridiculed, and sometimes even killed over them. I started this project in hopes to open up the lines of communication, and to help everyone accept diversity with an open mind & heart. Each person that takes part in the project is extremely courageous! They are putting their insecurities out in the open, and exposing a side of themselves that nobody has seen before. By stating "I am not my_____," they are claiming that they do in fact struggle with these issues, but it does not define who they are as a person. It is not aimed for people to say "You're not fat," or "You don't have love handles." It is to spread awareness on what people go through due to society's paved roads. These are serious issues that some of us can live with, but most battle on a day to day basis. I encourage every viewer to look at each image and put yourself in the individuals shoes. By allowing yourself to feel what they feel, you might realize something you've never noticed before. I would like to thank you for showing interest in my project, and for taking the time to read what it's all about.

Stop-motion monsters!! Official music video for "Because" by David Rosenfield

This is the documentary of the monster revolution. Let me back up and explain a bit: every year, my parents sell my mom's art at the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar in Austin, Texas. Their good friends at The Bungled Jungle sell monsters at the show, as well, and, for years, the Bungles have been providing my parents with monsters. The monsters live around my parents' house, mostly in, on and around an old bird cage in their studio. So here's the documentary of the monster revolution. It was an internal power struggle, and relatively peaceful. My parents were not harmed. Website for The Bungled Jungle: www.bungledjungle.com
