Briefing on the Cagayan de Oro Situation.mov

Meeting on CDO Situation and Distribution of Relief Goods Cagayan de Oro City 20 December 2011 President Benigno S. Aquino III ordered the local government of Cagayan de Oro to implement a "No Return Order"-of families residing in identified geohazard areas. According to the President, he was advised by the fact-finding committee that 172 municipalities, majority of which reported high casualty rate, were sitting on a natural flood plane such as the Isla de Oro, that made them vulnerable to flash floods. The President advised the local government to arrange permanent relocation sites that will safeguard the displaced families from future similar threats. He also assured the local officials that he will exhaust all possible means to bring CDO back to its feet. In his visit to one of CDO's evacuation sites, President Aquino announced that upon his return to Manila he will declare a National State of Calamity that will enable the country to receive $3-million funding from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and, if proven not enough, will seek an additional $500-million worth of loan (with minimum interest) from World Bank. Other neighboring countries have also expressed their desire to offer assistance. President Aquino has already instructed newly-appointed ARMM OIC-Governor Mujiv Hataman to enforce total log ban and has formed a taskforce to represent the following agencies to lead in the investigation that will identify the possible cause of the trajedy: DILG, DSWD, DPWH, DOST ...

Rizal Ceremonial Hall, Malacañang February 28, 2012 President Benigno S. Aquino III, together with a selected audience, viewed the premiere screening of the documentary film produced by the National Geographic Channel and Fox Asia entitled "Inside Malacañang." It featuresthe home and workplace of the highest Philippine government official and the people behind the walls of the Palace. In his speech, the President said that Malacañan Palace was disclosed to the public through the documentary because he wants to break the common viewpoint that the Palace "is a well-guarded structure, removed from everyday life; a house of power and authority whose occupants influence the lives of all Filipinos." He said that he always believed Malacañan Palace is the palace of the people. "Let this documentary symbolize that the halls of power are not exclusive to elected officials—every single one of us can take part. This is the pathway that we must take to make certain that all of us are involved, and that no one is left behind," the President stated. President Aquino recognized the National Geographic Channel, Fox International Channels and Marnie Manicad Productions International (MMPI) for producing a film that will immortalize the hard work and dedication of the people working in Malacañang. The Presidential Broadcast Staff-Radio Television Malacanang was personally thanked by the owner of MMPI, Ms. Marnie Manicad, for its essential contribution in the making of the documentary. Anti Firecracker Campaign APIR (Aksyon: Paputok Injury Reduction) 12/26/2011
