Dvorak: Rusalka (Munich State Opera) staged by Martin Kusej

This highly acclaimed production from the Bayerische Staatsoper, a powerful and fascinating re-interpretation of Dvořák fairy-tale opera Rusalka, was a revelation: the young, up-and-coming Latvian soprano, Krístīne Opolaís, whose performance was rightly hailed by the press as "one of the most vivid and striking accomplishments seen on an opera stage in a long time" (Vienna's leading daily Der Standard). With her supple and velvety soprano voice, her captivating physical beauty and her hauntingly moving stage presence, Krístīne Opolaís perfectly embodies the role of the water nymph who becomes a human being in order to find love.

Rusalka - Dvorak - "O Lovely Silver Moon" - Renee Fleming - Soprano

So much loved an aria from Opera "Rusalka" by Antonin Dvorak. Here Soprano Renee Fleming sings so beautifully in Czech. When I first purchased this CD in 1997 I could not stop listening almost every day for almost more than a month. A water nymph fell in love with a human man. Alas! Rusalka - "O Lovely Silver Moon": "Song to the Moon" Lovely moon high up in the sky. you light up far and wide in vast you wander though wide world peeking into homes of men. O Siver moon stay awhile. And tell me where my beloved is. Oh Lovely Silver moon, tell him that my arms embrace him, and may he remember in his dream to remember me and how much I love. O Lovely moon, shine your silver light over him in far far away where he is and do tell him, Oh, do let him know I, who is waiting here for him. If he remembers me in his dream the dream will waken him to recall! Oh, Loverly moon do not go away Please Stay with your silver gleam all night thru, Oh, sivler moon do stay! * this is not a word to a word translation but rather my feel imposed translation based on the context
