SergeanT BarrY Sadler _Tribute...

Tribute: SergeanT BarrY Sadler... Barry Sadler (November 1, 1940 -- November 5, 1989) Enlistment Sadler dropped out of the Leadville, Colorado high school in the tenth grade. He hitchhiked across the country, and joined the US Air Force after a year of wandering the country. Sadler was trained in radar and was stationed in Japan at age 17. After a few years in the Air Force, Sadler joined the Army, hoping for more excitement. [edit] Wounded in action While serving in the Vietnam War, he was severely wounded in the knee by a feces-covered punji stick while leading a patrol in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, southeast of Pleiku in May 1965. At the time, Sadler was on an antibiotic for dysentery, so no major ill effects from the punji stick were seen. He used only a cotton swab and an adhesive bandage while finishing the patrol. But later, Sadler developed a major infection of the leg, sending him home. During dangerous surgery, Sadler's doctors found themselves forced to enlarge the wound in order to drain it and administer penicillin. While he was recovering in the hospital, Sadler heard Robert F. Kennedy dedicating the new JFK Center for Special Warfare at Fort Bragg. At that moment, Sadler promised himself that if his leg successfully fought off the infection, which it eventually did, he would give away the rights to his song. [edit] The Ballad Of The Green Berets Sadler recorded his now-famous song, "The Ballad Of The Green Berets," a patriotic song in ballad style ...

My Choice 524 - Barry Sadler: The Ballad of the Green Berets

This is a US Patriotic song composed by Barry Sadler and Robin Moore as a tribute to the American soldiers who risk their lives fighting for freedom and justice. Lyrics below. Barry Sadler (1940 1989) was an American author and musician. Sadler served as a Green Beret medic and Staff Sergeant in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Most of his works have military themes, and he billed himself under his military rank of Staff Sergeant as SSgt Barry Sadler. Sadler recorded his now-famous song, "The Ballad Of The Green Berets," a patriotic song in ballad style. The recording of his Vietnam songs was initiated by the urging of writer Robin Moore, author of the novel The Green Berets. The book became a 1968 movie, The Green Berets, starring John Wayne, with "The Ballad of the Green Berets" arranged in a choral version by Ken Darby as the title song of the film. Moore wrote an introduction to Sadler's autobiography, I'm a Lucky One, which he dictated to Tom Mahoney and which Macmillan published in 1967. "The Ballad of the Green Berets" was picked up by the RCA Victor Records label in early 1966 and became a fast-selling single, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for five consecutive weeks 1966. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.Video by Alfred with the help of Choy Hong (Jasmine) Grech, Mosta, Malta. © jasalf5959 - 2010 Music is copyrighted by its corresponding owners. 'The Sleeping Beauty' - Sadlers Wells Ballet (Royal Ballet) 1955 Part 1 of 5

There are bits and pieces about on You Tube of this famed 1955 NBC television broadcast of the Royal Ballet's 'The Sleeping Beauty'. But I thought it would be good to have it here in its entirety, even though the quality is not the very best. Although originally broadcast in colour, only a black and white version was preserved. What I particularly love about this performance, apart from Dame Margot Fonteyn's unmatched Princess Aurora, is Sir Frederick Ashton's uncompromisingly malevolent Carabosse. Very very scary in fact. By the way, his heavy facial make-up is curiously reminiscent, for me, of the Elephant Man! And there is Dame Beryl Grey, lovely as as The Lilac Fairy, and Alexander Grant as one of the Ivans. The cast includes: Princess Aurora - Dame Margot Fonteyn Prince Florimund - Michael Somes Lilac Fairy - Dame Beryl Grey Carabosse - Sir Frederick Ashton Cantalabutte - Leslie Edwards The Queen - Gerd Larsen The King - Bryan Ashbridge The Bluebird - Brian Shaw Princess Florine - Rowena Jackson Four Princes - John Hart, John Field, David Blair and Desmond Doyle Florestan and his two sisters - Philip Chatfield, Rosemary Lindsay, Pauline Clayden Puss in Boots - Douglas Steuart / White Cat - Dorothea Zaymes Three Ivans - Alexander Grant, Peter Clegg and Ray Powell I'd be very grateful if people could help identify the other dancers in principal roles. Barry Sadler in "No Substitute For Victory"

Barry Sadler who wrote "The Ballad of the Green Berets" is featured in this 1960's John Wayne film about the war in Vietnam. This presentation is for historical context only and should not be construed as support for the positions of Mr. Wayne or Mr. Sadler. In the opinion of Iguana Productions, no man made political system is worth dying or killing for. The sham war against the Soviets and Red Chinese seemed to be a defense industry racket and the current invasion of Iraq and Diarrheastan are proof of the 911 money machine sprouted by the Bushkas. For more info on Mr. Sadler see www.findagrave.com In the late 1970s, Sadler shot and killed country songwriter Lee Emerson. The shooting took place at night in front of Sadler's house. Pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter, Sadler was sentenced to four to five years in prison, but all but 30 days was suspended An interesting note about Mr. Sadler is that while riding in A South American taxi in 1989, he was shot by an unknown shooter. It took him months to die of his wounds. He is buried in Nashville, TN. for even more: en.wikipedia.org

Through the sublime language of Hilal Dance, her work infuses the traditional with the ideal, heritage moulded to modernity, the classical reinterpreted through originality. Elliott Sadler's Destroyed Fusion at Pocono

Elliott Sadler had a horrific accident in the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono near the end of the race. I got a chance to film what remained of his car on the wrecker heading back to the pits. Thankfully, Sadler was okay in one of the worst hits in recent memory. You can notice that the engine and part of the front clip were both completely missing from the car. This video gives a chance for many people to see his car, since the camera angles on TV didn't show his accident well or his car in good view. Please rate and comment!

'Dances Concertantes' (1955) - Sadlers Wells Theatre Ballet

A segment of 'Danses Concertantes' (1955) which was the first ballet commissioned from Sir Kenneth McMillan by for the Sadlers Wells Theatre Ballet ... by Ninette de Valois. The main dancers are Annette Page and Donald McLeary. Music: Igor Stravinsky Designer: Nicholas Georgiadis The talking heads are Sir Kenneth McMillan and Clement Crisp (ballet critic, 'Financial Times') McMillan interestingly talks about trying to match what he saw as the jazzy, spiky, off-beat quality of Stravinsky's music in choreography - by, among other things, breaking up the lines of the body.
1999 Pennsylvania 500 Elliott Sadler Onboard

I've always been a fan of onboards, be it F1, NASCAR, whatever... since the new car has come around, however, you never see that great shot from behind the driver's right shoulder - you know, the one you get to see how the driver races the track, and you can see everything out his front windshield. Well thankfully, that view is making a comeback. I was fascinated by last night's coverage of the Firecracker 400 when they showed Regan Smith's onboard as he shoved Kurt Busch through the field. Man, Daytona is smooth now. Anyhow, here's an onboard from rookie Elliott Sadler's #21 Ford Taurus as he shows us how (and how not to) run Pocono Raceway during the '99 Pennsylvania 500. Sadler was injured the day before in a second round qualifying wreck. Also, the full-race review should be up in the next few days.

nice go kart wreck during race at Sadlers Indoor Racing in Olathe Kansas

Make sure you check out the wreck that starts at about 1:40. This was my second time ever driving a go kart. I decided to make a homemade helmet strap. I recorded three races altogether, this was the second. I used an Xacti E2 AVC/H.264 video camera. It worked great except one corner where it was not lit very well. If you live by Olathe Kansas I suggest checking out Sadler's Racing. It's great fun and the Go karts are very quick for a family karting center. Avg speeds around 35mph.

Xavier Le Roy - Self Unfinished (1998)

French choreographer Xavier Le Roy defies categorisation as a dance-maker, drawing on diverse influences from the worlds of science, performance art and contemporary dance. In Self Unfinished (1998), Le Roy takes the audience on a journey of metamorphosis as he transforms into an extraordinary hybrid creature part machine, part alien, part human. Employing all manner of physical devices, Le Roy creates a world of illusion that is as unsettling as it is transfixing.
